Come to me, my minions! Perhaps one of you will have a solution!

Has anyone – anyone – ever seen an extremely odd cartoon/feature with the following elements:
1. Two mice, one old and one young, who go on a quest or journey of some sort
2. An evil flower that mesmerizes ants with an eye ray then eats them, or possibly turns them evil so they go mesmerize other ants with eye rays
3. A punk hawk who has a musical (probably rock) number – he has a mohawk and possibly piercings and his song, in French, had the line 'je suis le fils du vent' which was all I could understand of the whole thing
4. Art direction that looked 70s/80s

My sister and I saw this on Teletoon (I think) in Quebec in 1997. I don't know if it was originally French or dubbed into it; the animation wasn't good enough to tell. We only caught snatches of it between our poor parents taking over the TV in attempts to find something less insane to watch. It's practically impossible to search for online with the information I have. Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about, or do I just chalk this up to collective hallucination?

MYSTERY SOLVED! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] serebronaga! It's 'Katy and the Caterpillar Kids.' there are clips on YouTube but they're in Spanish so it's still incomprehensible (though I suspect it wouldn't make much sense even if I could understand it). Here's a clip with evil eye-rays and the punk hawk.

I think I remember a movie along those lines. A couple of mice went on an adventure and there were trippy plants and singing birds. I hated it, but my sister watched it over and over and over... Augh. I don't remember what it was called. >_>

My sister and I came up with "The Rescuers." I don't remember ants and flowers, but it had a crazy bird and some trippy kidnapping scheme...

I think "Once Upon a Forest" is the one I'm thinking of.

Alas, I don't think either of those were it, though Once Upon a Forest seems to be the closest yet. I would definitely have recognized The Rescuers. Thanks for the help, though.

I didn't think it would be Rescuers, but I figured it couldn't hurt to throw it out there.

Could it be "The Mouse And His Child"?

Hmm, the title sounded promising, but I looked it up and it doesn't look like the thing. I don't remember any wind-up anything in what I saw.

All I can think of is the 'Secret of Nimh', but that's probably not right. Good luck in finding it!

The mouse part sounds like Pinky and the Brain -- who went on several quests to take over the world. The rest of it, though, does not.

Sorry, I'm not much use.

The only thing I can think of with a punk hawk with a rock song would be 'Katy and the Catepiller Kids', and it had ants in it...but I don't remember any mice or evil flowers.

OMG THAT'S IT!! THAT'S IT!! There are clips on YouTube except they're in Spanish, so I understand even less of what's happening, but that's kind of in the spirit of the whole thing.

THANK YOU!

I'll post links at lunchtime, possibly.

WOW I remember watching the original Katy Caterpillar, This is the sequel to that, I'm watching it now (Once again, I'm catching up on reading your entries) I could only find it in Spanish as well, but I still like the animation.

On the topic of Canadian films of the 80's, have you seen The Peanut Butter Solution?

Wow - I wonder if it makes more sense or is more entertaining in English? Somehow, I doubt it! I also thought you were talking about "The Mouse and his Child" (some of that definitely has a halucinatory nature!) until you got to the hypnotized ants and the punk hawk...!
But...have you seen this? It's Korean!
