Here I am in Belfast, alive and well, though I question my sanity when after only a few days in Ireland I turn up my nose at a castle if it is merely Victorian. Everything is so much more fantastically amazing than I thought it would be. This place is seriously awesome. And I have a renewed desire to learn Gaelic if only to figure out the mad spellings.

Today I listened to Radio 4 LIVE and IN THE CORRECT TIME ZONE. Unfortunately it was a Saturday and I'm not accustomed to the Saturday lineup so it wasn't as mind-blowing as it might have been. We'll save that for Tuesday when I arrive in England, though by then it'll probably be 24/7 coverage of the Blair/Brown transition ... alas ... Stupid Blair! Why must he plan his resignation for the week I'm there and mess up the radio goodness? I might have gone to a taping of the Now Show otherwise!

Not enough time to sketch! Have lost all my pencils and must use pen! Many many photos! Have some more exclamation points!!!!

Oh wow! You should get the 261 bus down to Enniskillen some time, see Fermanagh, it's a beautiful county even if the weather is a bit crap now. There's Fleadh's going on I think.

Tha a'Ghaidhlig agam beagan! Tha mi ann an dochas gum bi mi a fileanta ach tha mi nam eiginn. 'S toigh leam eolas cheilteach :p

I'm really losing all my Gaelic over the summer. That's Scottish Gaelic though, can't help you with it's-practically-only-vowels Irish.

so you're saying something like - "God be upon you (or me?)! I am (an dochas = definitive noun) (bi = verb) (mi = me) (a fileanta = noun) (ach = but?) (tha = verb) (mi = me) (nam = ??) (eiginn = personal pronoun). ('S = copula verb) (toigh = ??) (leam = personal pronoun) (eolas = ?) (cheilteach = noun)."

am I close? i only sort of know it's-practically-only-vowels irish

Dia duits! Go raibh maith agat?
(pronounced: Dee-a hwits? go rah mai agat?)

if i remember correctly, i think your "agam" is the same declining as my "agat", though i couldn't tell you waht it means.

i think i sprained my brain

I was saying "I speak a little Gaelic! I'm hoping that I will be fluent but I'm having a hard time. I love Celtic Studies :p"

Of course, literally, it's "The Gaelic is at me a little! I am in hope that I will be fluent but I'm in my difficulty. I love Celtic Studies :p"

I believe Irish "agat" is the same as Scottish Gaelic "agad" which means "at you," used mostly when you have something/have to do something. I'm not completely sure that agat=agad, for all I know it could be equivalent to agam (at me).

<3 Gaelic grammar.
