I HAS A MONATR!!1

On the other hand, my monitor settings don't go up to the optimum resolution for this thing... do I need a new video card or can I download something or what? HELP ME, INTARNETS!

It's not that annoying ... just kinda stretchy and blurry. Way better than a dead monitor, that's for sure.

You may not need a new video card, it may be the monitor it's self, an older or cheep one will work crappy. But sometimes it's also the settings, try fiddleing with the controls on the monitor. It sometimes works and saves alot of money on expensive hardware and software...

It's not the monitor; it's new and fancy and I've checked and double-checked all its knobs and dials. The problem is that in the monitor settings control panel the resolution slide bar only goes up to 1100ish x something as opposed to the 1440 x something the monitor's designed for.

Yep, it's your video card. You need a better card. Ensure your card is supported by your OS.
