I've been listening to all the Holmes radio plays I have recorded and edited* over the last couple of days. Yesterday was "The Final Problem."

Then today I listened to "The Empty House" in part of which Holmes relates what actually happened at the waterfall, but ... well, see, the guy across the desk from me was playing his music**, and it really didn't fit with the mood of the story at all. I was starting to get annoyed because me wants my Holmeses but suddenly this image flashed into my head and it was all better.

*Unfortunately I seem to have left the end off "The Three Gables" and the how-we-solved-the-crime bit off "The Norwood Builder." Sigh. So fallible.
**I believe it was 'Welcome to the Jungle.' Not that I would recognize it by hearing it but the singer kept saying 'Welcome to the jungle' so I think it's a safe bet that that's what it was.

And yes I KNOW the perspective is totally wrong on the rock compared to the sizes and the positions but ... it's 8:10 and I'm still at work, dangit!

Wonderful! I'm impressed, especially with the guitarist's movement. And Holmes is so dignified. Is this from when he "died" along with Moriarty? I don't remember the rocker being there, but maybe I was not paying enough attention... :D

Moriarty and Holmes would probably have briefly united in pushing Axl Rose off the damn cliff.

Oh yay, BBC Holmes! I've tried and tried to find recordings of those radio plays - any advice on how I could get a copy?

Check your local library, your local library system, and your local library system's interloan program if they have one. I managed to borrow a bunch of the Holmes BBC radio plays on CD this summer from my public library (to listen to while working in an academic library, ironically enough).

I think if you moved Moriarty as a figure down about half an inch the perspective would be perfect.

Also, I think your brain is awesome. *loves rock'n'roller*

I second this. Half an inch or so.

Actually what I need to do to get it to look like what I saw in my head would be to move Sherlock down a bit, foreshorten the rock more, and draw their feet flatter so the horizon line is lower and therefore the size comparison would work better ... I like the way Moriarty sort of looms over Holmes in the [intended] composition even though Holmes is nominally taller. I just got wrapped up in drawing shoes. :) But yeah, moving Moriarty down half an inch would also work ... and be a lot easier ...

BTW, it was your Holmes allusion in Legion of Ghosts that set me off on this binge, so copious thanks. :D I'm having more fun reading that than most of canon in the last four years.

(apologies for confusing syntax, grammar centres in brain have shut down for the night)

I half expect Moriarty to turn to the camera, drum his fingers together and say Ex-cell-ent.

Awesomely funny reveal for someone who often claims not to be funny.

No one fits Moriarty's physical description better than Mr Burns.

Our library has an exhibit on time up. One of the manuscripts on display is "Sherlock Holmes and the Seven Clocks." Something like that.

Well, as usual I am amazed! Great drawing, and I LOVE the Axl insert. Does it not bug you to have Guns 'n' Roses played out loud at you when you're at work? I mean, I actually LIKE them and it would drive me mad!

It was only one song on the playlist and it wasn't that loud, it was just right across from me, and slightly too loud to be blocked out by Clive Merrison unless I turned the volume up far too high. Not really that annoying. It could have been techno.

Cool pictures! I agree, Holmes and Moriarty would've temporarily sunk their differences to throw that damn rocker into the falls.

I bought some Audio Cassette tapes of Holmes stories, and I find it's actually quite soothing to have it playing in the background while I'm working or drawing... Anyway, I absolutely love the artwork - do you use Photoshop to do your linework?

From: [identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com
Actually for this I used Alias Sketchbook Pro and the Cinttiq at my desk at work ... :) Generally I stick to paper and pencil, though, that's the only way to get the line I want. I was recently aghast to discover OpenCanvas doesn't have a mac version! O waily waily!

Ahhh Sketchbook Pro, love it! In my opinion it's got a much more natural feel to it than doing linework in Photoshop (although, for some reason, I seem to use Photoshop for most things....0_o) :P But I agree, paper and pencil can't be outdone!

Ahahah. I'm the person who emailed you asking where to find the radioplays. Mark said I ought to torrent them, and I just haven't gotten around to it yet. It may be just as well to simply reread the stories.
