All right, listen up, Americans*:

He's the one who's not that cranky doctor from the show with the cranky doctor in it. (Thank you, Tony!)

The remainder of that scene is at the beginning of this clip:

This one's a bit loud, you might want to turn down the volume... (but it comes with bonus John Sessions!)

He even narrates well-animated children's shows:

*By which I mean residents of the Americas, that is, land masses in the Western Hemisphere.

If you recall, in the previous post there had been some puzzling over how few North Americans know who he is and how it is difficult to enlighten them in ordinary conversation. I am using the mighty power of the internet for the purposes of education!

Woot for Stephen Fry-ness with added Laurie-ness too!!

Seriously, his Twinings adverts almost make me want to -buy- tea. And as a side note, I blame you totally for the impulse buy of two Sherlock Holmes collections today. I hadn't read anything until you posted your drawing of Holmes and Moriaty (er...don't quote me on that spelling..), and now I've finished study in scarlet, sign of the four and shall hopefully be starting....well something soon.

*does the Stephen Fry dance*

You should mention that he's the one who's not that cranky doctor from the show with the cranky doctor in it.

Holy smokes. Hugh Laurie got old.

But then, I guess so has Stephen Fry.

Ha! I'm a North American and I DO know who Stephen Fry is! I should get some sort of prize. Thanks for the clips! I hadn't seen some of them.

OH WOW! That episode of Pocoyo was easily one of the best I've seen. Man, I love that show. Tell me where I can buy a hi-def DVD.

Heh, yeah, I showed my sister (who had seen a season of House and was talking about how entertaining she found Hugh Laurie) an episode of Jeeves & Wooster and she spent the whole time freaking out about how young they were.

Point taken! I shall add a disclaimer forthwith.

I know who he is! I don't like him, or love him, as much as I do Hugh, but I like him nontheless. He narrates the HP UK version books AND he was on last season of Bones. Ok...that was random. XD

I'm Canadian and I know who Stephen Fry is! We have the same birthday ^-^. And yes, it's really odd explaining who he is to some of my friends.

Stephen Fry is actually IN AMERICA RIGHT NOW. (At least, I think it is "RIGHT NOW".) As he said in his blog, he's touring America in his London cab with the word 'Fry' on top of it.
Read it here: http://stephenfry.com/blog/?p=21 The blog is of course heartily recommended.

I've loved Stephen for a few years now, and he continues to amaze and delight me (and how Fryish I now sound to myself...). IMO, his audiobooks of Harry Potter are better than Jim Dale's. And I've always liked Fry better than Laurie - sorry Hugh! ;) (And sorry, House-obsessed friend of mine...)

Haha, yes, Stephen Fry! I first learned of him from the Harry Potter audio tapes, on which he does a WONDERFUL job. I love his Hagrid. :D

[raises hand]

Um, I already knew who Stephen Fry was.

My first exposure to him was the British Harry Potter Audio Books. Well, my first exposure to him where I knew what his name was, anyway. I'd forgotten about Jeeves, to tell you the truth.

He also narrated the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Movie that they made a few years back. I spent the first half hour trying to figure out where I'd heard his voice before. :-D

I knew Stephen Fry from V for Vendetta, but now I'm really interested in all of his other stuff.

I had to look up the cast for Gormenghast after that clip because I didn't remember him being in it, and did you know that Irma Prunesquallor is Aunt Petunia? (you probably did, but ... its weird to think about ..)

Yeah – Vernon Dursley, Madame Hooch, and Mr Weasley are also in the Gormenghast cast. I was amazed how often I saw Gormenghast people in other things until I learned that they had managed to gather an all-star cast for it, so I guess it was a pretty good introduction to British casting.

I utterly love your icon, can I use it? I had previously had no knowledge of needing a Quiet Man icon from one of the "No patty-fingers" scenes; however, now that I know there are such things in this world, I needs it like Michaleen needs whiskey.

I knew who Stephen Fry is, although I'm not quite sure how I knew. I recognized him in V for Vendetta, which is the only thing I think I've seen him in.

On a side note, Pocoyo is probably the cutest animated being ever.

Wow
I'm not alone!
It's so annoying when I talk about Stephen Fry and NO BODY KNOWS WHO HE IS!!!
and then I list things that he's in...and they've never heard of those either.
it's very sad

woot Stephen Fry!

I'm sure there's a whole subculture of American Fry-fans. I've seen Blackadder, Jeeves&Wooster, Gormenghast, Wilde (seriously, Jude Law looks exactly like Alfred Douglas), and I knew he narrated Hitchhiker's. The professors in Gormenghast reminded me of the UU wizards, which was absolutely fantastic.

It's also rather sad that Americans don't know about Hugh Laurie's comedy work.

It's freaking me out and I've never even watched House! Just Stuart Little and erm... Sense and Sensibility... Funny, looking that up, Sense and Sensibility is only a few years later than Jeeves and Wooster, a VERY few. Odd, then, that he should look so different to me in this when I watch Sense and Sensibility all the time and there's really only a few years in between.

YAY STEPHEN FRY! Oh, this makes me so happy!

I am incredibly late on commenting, but my friend Maladroitness introduced me to A Bit of Fry and Laurie earlier last year. And I am currently lusting after a book on poetry written by the man himself :)
If you are interested I will attempt to find the title. Although, you may already know this, and I may just have wasted a moment of your time!
I have been a fan of your work for a good (*thinks* I believe five?) years now. You got me into Pratchett's Johnny Maxwell Trilogy (I had already read a few Discworld novels) and your talent has inspired me to draw more often than I used to. You're very much a role model to me and I thank you for it!
