Mine are about the same as yours, so I'll just post the ones that are different:

6. Eavestrough, sometimes downspout as well depending on which part I'm talking about.

8. Pop

15. Pill bug or potato bug.

16. Teeter-totter.

17. Same as you, except I don't like crusts. :)

18. Garage sale only if it's in their garage or on the driveway, otherwise I'll probably call it a yard sale, 'cos it's all over their lawn.

19. Dinner and supper are interchangeable, in my book.

I actually read once that 'dinner' is supposed to denote the largest meal of the day, be it midday or evening, whereas 'supper' is always the evening meal. I don't know how official this is, but it was interesting.

There was that bit in "Hogfather" when one of the wizards is complaining about how (I think) the Dean was so rich as a kid that he ate dinner at night instead of at noon like everyone else.

I always thought it was just a regional thing.

I think 'dinner' for lunch is a rural thing; I've encountered it in books set in England, Canada, and the US but always in a farming setting. It makes sense; if you're out working in the fields it's probably best to eat a large lunch to keep you going until nightfall.

Yeah I think mealtimes and their largeness depend on where you are. My friend was going on about meal times in Ireland when he was there with his relatives, and it's apparently different in Korea as well, according to a Korean friend. But for me, I kind of just eat however much at whatever meal, so I call it whatever too. :) I'd get confused if it got too specific in my little world. 8D

True. What would make non-farmers eat it at night, though?

Just guessing, but...

Non-farmers tend to get up later, so we need more food to see us through the night. Plus, we probably also go to bed later, and it's harder to sleep on a fuller stomach.

I'm from the South of England (Hertforshire) but live in the North (Yorkshire).

At home, Lunch was a midday meal and Dinner was an evening meal.
Up here, Dinner is a midday meal and Tea is an evening meal.

As a general rule, the South of England is wealthier and percieved as posher, so I think lunch and dinner are also considered more formal terms.

LOL at Snarky #1. I've driven over the Jordan "River" so many times and each time I wonder how they get off calling it a river! More like a trickle...

The ones that are different for me wold be 5, a sofa, 18, a yard sale, and to some extent 21, as Portland has fancy water fountains (http://www.portlandonline.com/WATER/index.cfm?c=ecdei).

I just recently discovered that those things I always thought of as pill bugs or roly-polies are actually wood lice. Kind of gives you a completely different perspective on them.

By the by, did you check out that video I linked to in your last entry?
