An excellent way to start a Monday:

I work with silly people.

Also: If Cate Blanchett were an animal...?

I can find no particular reason why that should be so funny, and yet I'm bent over laughing hysterically. Incredible.

Also, quite a striking resemblance to Cate Blanchett. I could see that cat doing the whole "Terrible and more treacherous than the SEEEEEEA!" thing.

My Pettigrew and Nathaniel aren't actually all that similar, if you put them next to each other. There are only so many ways to do a short, fat, rodent-like man; that description led them to cast Timothy Spall in that role in the movie and Nathaniel is just a caricature of Timothy Spall, so there is a logical relation.

Any Pettigrew pics I've drawn in the last two years (if there are any) are undoubtedly influenced by Nathaniel, and I realized upon reading book 7 this summer that he had completely replaced him because he is simply a MUCH BETTER design (and animation FTW), but I don't think I've drawn him since then...

How did you see designs for Nathaniel two years ago? Do people in the animation industry get sneak peaks that early in the process?

Or were you influenced by Timothy Spall?

Either way, when I first watched the movie I thought of your Pettigrew, but immediately ignored it because, like you said, there's only so many ways to draw a short, fat rodent-like man.

I got to visit the studio that did the animation on Enchanted in 2006. I have to admit I didn't know who Timothy Spall was until he was cast in HP3, as he was one of the few big British actors who wasn't in Gormenghast; by then I had an established Pettigrew in my head and the movie version repulsed me somewhat*, so it wasn't until seeing his Enchanted caricature that I realised how good a choice he was.
