The friend I was paintchatting with had a phone call, and I have always been jealous of people who can paint glass effects realistically, so I painted my refreshing beverage. Matcha lemonade. Best thing ever (or at least this year, in the liquids department). I have to keep going back to Canada so Blenz can keep telling me what drinks are new and delicious. They're 3/3 so far. Also painted my snack. Blueberries = August. That one had been recently washed, that's why it's shiny. They're not usually shiny. But they are usually delicious, as that one was when I decided it was done being my model and I ate it. BC goodness. Thank you, gigantic Sikh blueberry farms, for letting me take part of thy bounty. I don't know what I shall do in September, which is blackberry season, because store-bought blackberries just ... aren't ... right.

It's bloody hot and I can't sleep and the internet is not cooperating. Don't make me watch Road to Perdition again, Internet!

MATCHA LEMONADE
1 cup lemon juice
2 tbsp matcha (green tea) powder
Sugar/Sweetener to taste (I use about 3 tbsp stevia)
2 L water

Mix the matcha powder with enough water to make a liquid about the consistency of paint – it works best to add and mix water gradually, working from a thick paste up to liquid, to avoid little powdery lumps. Add this to the lemon juice and sugar/sweetener. I mix it all up in an old 2L pop bottle and then fill the rest with water but it's probably classier to use a pitcher.

Very well done! At first glance I honestly thought it was a photo. I love glass effects. (And blueberries!)

That blueberry looks so pretty. And I've never tried matcha lemonade, but now I shall seek it out...I think it's the little diving board that did it for me.

It sounds stupid but your picture is making me really want some of that lemonade.
It just looks so thirst-quenching :)

Well, the wild blackberries are gone by now. At least the ones around my house are.

Both look impossibly delicious right about now.

And bee tee dubs--would it be alright for me to add you as a friend? You seem really cool, and we share many interests~ :D

Have you had the iced matcha latte though? Oh, BLENZ!

I've had their matcha latte (that was awesome beverage #1) and the iced version, but there's something about the water-based tangy matcha lemonade that is much more satisfying on a hot summer day. Theirs still tastes better that mine (I suspect their matcha is much fresher) but somehow I can't justify the $503.95 it would cost to pick one up every time I felt like it...

[Un]Fortunately I'm working on stuff that I like and is challenging enough that I don't have to have a doodle pad nearby to collect all the stuff I'd rather be doing.

You're working on that! I've noticed that the princess uses he same movements as Mulan. I love the classic revival going on with this one.
It looks amazing! I'm so proud of you. :)

You have a VERY good eye: she's animated by Mark Henn, who also did Mulan.

I'm glad you like the revival style ... I know a few people (not at Disney, but whose opinions I respect) who are frustrated with how it looks like it's 'straight out of 1992.' It's good to get outside perspective on this stuff sometimes; the world of animation can get a bit insular.

What part of it is your doing then? Are you allowed to tell so we can keep an eye out for it? :)

Oo, i must try that! I keep forgetting to pick up some matcha powder, mostly because I haven't the slightest idea where to buy it. Where I live is not exactly the paragon of classy living.

We do have a huge blackberry bush in our backyard and my dad made vats of blackberry jam. Blueberries are the best though.

I've always wanted to try blackberry wine – my cousins on the island used to make it but they haven't ever since I reached drinking age (argh).

You can get matcha at T&T, if you're ever back in a city that has one...

I'd like to try some of that, but I live in Indianapolis, and I have no idea where I would get it around here.

For some reason, I've never cared for blueberries. I don't know why. Strawberries are my personal favorite.

I suspect you can find it at Asian (specifically Japanese) food stores, as well as some specialty coffee shops ... I think I've seen it at Coffee Bean; I know Blenz sells a matcha kit, though it's expensive, and I think they're only in Canada anyway. Starbucks sells matcha drinks but I don't know if they sell the powder ... I've found the best prices and selection at Asian food stores. The price varies widely and is probably a good indicator of quality, but for a mutt drink like this, the cheap stuff is fine.

More blueberries for me! Ahahaha!

Do you think Vietnamese stores would have it? We don't have any Japanese or Chinese stores in my little home town, but we have a Saigon Market.

Maybe ... there was a Vietnamese place (Southeast Asian anyway) where we used to go in Utah (not the epicentre of Asian-American culture) that had a fair selection of generally Asian stuff. It's worth a shot ... they might be able to order some if they don't have any.

I should add that you could make a version like lemonade in which you add brewed green tea to the lemon/sugar mix instead of just water. It'd be different but probably good ... in a different way ... I know green tea and grapefruit juice is good and that's kind of the same principle.

Yep, in OpenCanvas. It has this thing where you can draw on one file at the same time as another person, lots of fun for artists separated by cruel distance.
