I drew this in 2004 or 5 but couldn't scan it at the time and forgot about it. I'm sure I scanned it a couple years later, when I ran across it again, but it wasn't on my computer or my external hard drive when I remembered it during my recent website update. So I scanned it again. And here it is.

Remus tries to ignore James bullying Snape by burying himself in his book, from the 'Snape's Worst Memory' chapter in Order of the Phoenix (the only part I really liked in that book).

Yeah ... might be guilty of this sort of thing myself ... a lot ...

The last line is precisely why that part was the only part I really HATED in that book. :(

But I like the drawing! Especially the frown with his eyebrows and the fingers in his hair.

I like his look of consternation. I'm guilty of it, too. I hate conflict, and so I frequently look the other way when people do things I don't approve of, just to keep the peace among friends.

I'm trying to get over it, though.

I know that you've been looking for something to help satisfy your craving for all things Snicket. Unfortunately, it does not have anything to do with anything relating to A Series of Unfortunate Events or V.F.D, but it does have Daniel Handler. On the cover of a book. That is apparently a complete coincidence. But here:

This is the blog that talks about it. I just found it funny, and I thought you might like it. :)

The Snape's Worst Memory thing was probably my favourite scene from the whole Harry Potter series. I still have no idea why. I just loved the idea of Harry discovering that his father was a jerk and his teacher was a loser.

Your Remus always looks very Ewan McGregorish to me. Which is a good thing, because that's who I've always wanted to play the role.

... Interesting ... I'd always hoped he'd be played by John Lynch (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm4058092032/nm0001487), who I think was instrumental (along with Roger from 101 Dalmatians) in my mental image of Lupin. Can't really see Mr MacGregor playing him, myself (too young, for one), but to each his own...

Hmm, I can see where he's got his nose from now. But serioously, I'm guilty of thinking that the young version of John Lynch is very attractive. Back in high school I remember we read and watched Cal and I was sitting there thinking "Cuuute!", while my friend drew several uncomlimenting pictures of him. :) GAH! Can't believe it's been 10 years.

I think David Tennant would be a good Lupin, especially lookswise, but I have major hots for Ewan Macgregor and wouldn't mind him playing anyone.

The world needs more Lupin drawings.

And that situation in the book was one of the main things I didn't like about highschool. Trying to distance myself from all the stupid things my peers were doing was hard, since it seemed like most of the people in highschool were idiots.

True, and true. People in high school are still morons. I've been in this situation, too, and quite recently at that. I'm all for a good, righteous conflict (like when someone's treating a friend like a piggy bank, and you're sick and tired of hearing that shit) but not if I don't have some stock in it.

COLLEGE WHY ARE YOU SO FAR AWAAAAY

The whole drawing is spot-on for the feeling you're trying to convey. :3

Yays! I miss your Lupin; all of your drawings back then drew a lot on The Sword in the Stone, and I'm all sentimental looking at it.

I think you did a great job of making him look adolescent, but still showing the bones of his adult face underneath.

Quoted for truth. Your Lupin is amazing. I was scrolling down my friends list, caught the top half of his face, and I just knew. I even said "OMAGAH LUPIN" out loud.

So yes... brilliant sketch. I love all your work, but that Lupin especially has a little place in my heart. :)

You know what? I think we have all been too scared to stand up for someone in our lives. I was guilty of it frequently as a teenager. Thank God for adulthood eh?

I missed your Lupin! And this one needs a hug just as much, if not more than the rest of them :)

yay lupin! I loved everything about that scene except lupin, ah well. Adolescence is all awkward and pimply anyway. I may or may not have spent vast quantities of time studying the way you draw lupin's nose from all angles. Of all the harry potter artists i've stalked watched, I think you've got one of the best lupins.

And now for something completely different ...
Have you heard of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum? It mostly concerns LOTR, but it seemed like something with which you'd empathize

When I first stumbled upon your site in 2004 I thought you were a pretty great artist; having not seen any of your Azkaban project stuff for a while it's really obvious how you've gone from a good animation student to an animator with stunningly professional work. High fives!

Oh Harry Potter art ! Hoorray for Tealin !
Actually your drawings of Remus were the ones which brought me to your website and journal in the first place. He does have something of Roger, and he's the only representation of the character that really corresponds to my own vision.
I am so happy I found you by chance on Google one boring afternoon at the school library ;)
