This is what Blogs are For!
Nov. 30th, 2008 12:42 pmI've come to the coffee shop to get out of the house while I'm not allowed to be at work (union! [shakes fist]) and so far I've heard two weird covers of songs that were in Moulin Rouge -- first 'In the Name of Love' (is that the title?) sung by a couple of hippie girls and now 'Roxanne' sounding somewhat like Van Morrison doing Samba.
Nothing beats Jeremy Hardy's 'Roxanne'* though. Wow. (Does the audio file work?) Normally Mr Hardy's singing puts me in mind of Nobby doing karaoke but this round is just ... the only word I can find is 'transcendent.'
*Needless to say, copyright the glorious and wonderful BBC; I'm just spreading the joy.

Date: 2008-12-04 09:33 pm (UTC)It's very weird. But when you hear it everynight and get to see the stunning choreography in your head every time you hear it forever afterward, it can become very awesome.
