Attention Southern Californians:

Remember how I went on about Harold Lloyd a while back, after seeing Speedy?

Well, UCLA is doing it again this Saturday (the 31st) at 2 pm. Go! GO!

There's only an organ this time, not an orchestra, but even if they don't use the Carl Davis score I predict it will still be at least 75% as awesome. Same venue, same film, only so much can go wrong.*

My advice is to get the tickets over the phone (310-825-2101 10am - 4pm) – there's still a handling charge but it's less than when you buy them online, and at least it goes to UCLA, not Ticketmaster.
*Earthquake, hostage situation, zombie attack etc. being relatively unlikely

This is the alacrity with which you should proceed to this event:
Also, behold ancient L.A. in all its splendour! Can we go back 80 years and do it over?

I am vastly amused at, "I don't know whether pity or contempt is more appropriate Gilbert."

In return, I am duty bound to link you to such thing related. Namely the Song Tit-Willow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sou331FNeU4 While by no means my favorite verson, it does have the advantage of being by G&S's own company.

And well, the song that comes directly after that as sung by Groucho Marx (He was a very, very, big fan of The Mikado) and his utterly adorable daughter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt9a4Dt8U9g

And last but not least the great Anna Russell's "How to Write a Gilbert and Sullivan Opera" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yif-5xBbxd4
