97 years ago today, Capt. Robert Falcon Scott was the last member of the British polar party to succumb to the freezing cold of Antarctica. They were on their way back from the South Pole, which they had successfully reached, only to find that Roald Amundsen's Norwegian party had gotten there a month earlier.
I am a bad person.

When you are deeply touched by a story of hardship and ironic tragedy, how do you express yourself? MOCK IT.
The scary thing is, that wasn't even my idea. But I propagated it. At least I can rest a little easier in the knowledge that I am preceded to the nadir of respect by Dead Ringers and The League of Gentlemen.
On a more serious note, if you want a dose of pathos, you can see the last page of his journal, or if you're feeling particularly sadistic, his account of the return journey!
