In case anyone was still curious, I think I figured it out: I started this when I was fourteen, but I got receipt rolls for my fifteenth birthday, which must have occurred shortly after starting because not much of it was on taped-together strips of paper. Got it now? I hope? I think that's the story anyway ... I'm also remembering something about receipt rolls coming with a second-hand office desk ... part of me thinks I was prompted to start this by the presence of the rolls, and another part thinks I wouldn't have started it on strips of paper if I'd had the rolls readily at hand. So confused. It's got to mean something when I can remember inconsequential plot details from the Redwall books but not my own life at the time. (escapism much?)

Useless trivia: Real mice only have four fingers on their front feet, but five on their back feet. They do have a little stub where the thumb would be.
