Remember, tonight, on the Disney Channel, if you can stand watching through Princess Protection Thingy, there will be a sneak peek of Frog stuff. Actually you'll get to see quite a lot of new footage outside the official 'sneak peek' bit, which is surprising for something from the camera-hogging Movie Surfers. As soon as it turns up on YouTube I'll post it here, but you can bet the quality won't be as good.

And now I undertake my quest for glass noodles. Should I fall along the way, remember it was for the cause of cuisine in a barren wasteland...

From where I am, the most accessible place is forty minutes by bike and another half hour by bus away ... BUT I DID IT! I got three different kinds. And some dashi miso, which is just about the best idea ever, some frozen young coconut, frozen dumplings, those sticky-rice-wrapped-in-pandan-leaves things I do not know the name of, ponzu sauce, and ... just about anything that'd fit in my backpack. They had kabocha squash which I really really like, but I couldn't have gotten everything else and that too. I was so happy to be introduced to this place, I thought I'd left behind all those fabulous Asian supermarkets in Vancouver... now I just have to learn how to actually cook.

Nope, it's in Van Nuys – 99 Ranch Market. (You can tell it's good because the name doesn't make any sense! :) It's more Chinese than Korean but they've got Japanese food there too.

YAY!!!

some frozen young coconut
I miss fresh young coconut:( You hack the top and you put a straw inside and it's sort of sweet but not really. MMM.

those sticky-rice-wrapped-in-pandan-leaves things
Nasi Lemak/Fatty Rice

kabocha squash
Ooooo. Never actually tasted it. I like butternut squash ravioli but...no idea how to cook them!

I just have to learn how to actually cook.
I still have all my recipes from the old blog (plus new ones!) archived. :) IN ENGLISH for the benefit of the other people I live with :)
