I have returned from my post-Frog head-clearing rail adventure! Have a Mark Henn!

The Princess[es] and the Animator

They actually filmed him in his office! Whoa! Also check out Yoshi's pencil scenes (the streetcar ones)! They are totally not Mark's!

Have some more exclamation points!!!!!

No, that's a really early test ... the model's not quite final yet. I just went back and checked; Yoshi's scenes are the ones in and around the streetcar. Not to belittle Mark, he's awesome, just giving credit where credit is due...

Oooh, shop talk ... I will have to check that out with my oodles of time tomorrow! :)

I'm definitely going to see this movie when it comes out, even though I don't have kids - it looks gorgeous! Maybe I'll borrow a friend's kid, so I can go to the theater without getting any funny looks ;) It's heartening to see Disney animators going back to good old cels when so many folks are using CGI. Rest up form your journey, and revel in the feelings of pride. :)

In case you're wondering, I'm a random person who found her way here after stumbling on your lovely and impressive Discworld fanart. That stuff rocks! ~ Dawn

You know, you don't have to take a kid with you ... the entertainment industry will never be confident it can make a more grown-up animated movie until adults go see animation by themselves.

I go to see Up with my boyfriend and we didn't get any 'looks'. Last year we went to see Wall E and the whole theatre was FILLED with adults, couples like us having a date night, from mid-twenties to senior citizens. The Incredibles was certainly NOT a kiddie fare no matter what anyone says. (are subjects like marital infidelity and mid-life crisis even understandable by 'kids'?)

As for Disney movie to the count, I saw Treasure Planet with an adult friend (who is not someone from either illustration/animation/graphic design)--no kids were at the theatre, it was mostly teens-adults. Same with Atlantis and same with Emperor's New Groove.

Also, nowadays there are a lot of cartoons for adults, Family Guy, Futurama, The Simpsons, Persepolis, Waltz with Bashir.

There's no more stigma involved in watching animation, I don't understand why you get so embarassed watching animated movies on your own.
