Centenary Fever!

Remember back when I went to New York and there was that exhibit at the Natural History Museum about some American polar explorer who flew over both poles, one with Amundsen, and all the Amundsen stuff was mysteriously missing from the exhibit?

Well ... now I know where it went.

AMNH, you may have lost the battle of default coolness to the Natural History Museum in London, but DANG this looks AWESOME. I am totally going. I don't know when, yet, but at some point in the timestream I am THERE.

It was distinctly odd to visit the LA Times website and see Scott's picture without having sought it out.

I live in hope that as it ends in New York well before the centenary is over, in fact even before the centenary of the conquest of the pole, that it'll travel ... If it ends up in LA I can press-gang everyone I know into seeing it (or, well, make gestures in that direction) but I am more inclined to suspect its innate coolness will be attracted by the sympathetic coolness of San Francisco. Nevertheless, any excuse to go to San Francisco is always welcome!
