Before starting Night Watch this morning (I listened to Les Mis yesterday and there are lilacs busting into bloom all over so it was imperative) I had been reading Carpe Jugulum and was particularly struck by the strong visual impression this scene made on me:

It's Agnes Nitt being taken on a fly by Vlad Magpyr (who does look a bit like a genetic experiment to combine Tom Riddle and Draco Malfoy). I don't know if the sense of space comes across as clearly in pencil lines as it does in the full-colour mental movie complete with a slight BG drift, but ... I try.

If Esme Weatherwax had been the one to go to Shiz instead of Elphaba ... Wicked would be an entirely different story.
And probably a lot more interesting.
[ducks]

Now we sing dis stupid song!
Sing it as we march along!
Why we sing dis we don't know!
We can't make der words rhyme prop'ly!
Sound off! One! Two!
Sound off! Many! Lots!
Sound off! Er ... what?

(Edited to add the end bit and thus discourage further confusion with other rabble-rousing anthems)

My roommate just glanced over and said "Is that you pouncing on some guy? Her hair looks like yours."

Awesome picture! I LOVE the poses.

Yay! Whichever hand Tealin drsws with is alive and healthy! I don't know about Vlad looking like a Slytherin House genetics experiment, but he's kinda sexy :-\. Then again, it's your elegantly virile style with which I have fallen in love. I do love his smug expression. Ms. Raintree's Slytherins (or any HP males) should amalgamate like Jeff Goldblum and the common housefly more often. Although I must admit that I have yet to get into Going Postal, your Lord Vetinari Is not far at all from the abusive image of Mr. Snape Senior we got in Order of the Phoenix. The way you draw them, they could most certainly be family!

...and don't make fun of "Do you hear the people sing"! It was that song that convinced me to love Broadway :-P! Les Mis will ALWAYS rock my socks off!

Oh dear, now I look back I have thrown together the two musical references a bit sloppily. I am not slandering Les Mis at all! It's a fabulous musical, and the line "Somewhere beyond the barricade is there a world you long to see?" is close to my heart as an anthem for someone struggling under the oppression of a certain western state thick with transit connstruction (barricades, see, haha) during high school. The verse at the bottom is the marching song Detritus the troll teaches the new recruits to the Watch ... along the lines of the traditional "I don't know but I've been told..." ditty.

Lord Vetinari is tall, pale, and thin, has black hair, a hooked nose, wears black robes, and seems to always have a vaguely superior expression on his face, so you can kind of see where I get the Snape connection from.

Imagine what Detritus would have come up with for the motto of the Glorious People's Republic of Treacle Mine Road...

"If I went to Klatch, I'd be really stoopid."
"Detritus, never go to Klatch."

Ahh! I lurv Carpe Jugulum! The Lancre backdrop looks sufficiently ... backgroundish to me. Speaking of color, WILL you color this? [singsong voice] It would look gorgeous! [/singsong] Well, that is to say, more gorgeous than it is now.

And I want Agnes's boots!

You've just shot up about seventeen points on my AWESOME-O METER :DD I mean, LES MISERABLES!? Your coolness is exceedingly exceeding! And the whole Pterry shmear, I mean, I LOVE YOU.

If, like, my heart wasn't already given to Otto Chriek I'd totally be going for your Vlad right now. ;D SO. NICE. (Normally, I'd be nowhere this attracted on looks alone, but hey, I figured this is the Internet and Terry Pratchett we're talking about, so that's okay.) And also that spats are amazing. As are those little slip on cover things, of which the name escapes me at the moment.

. . . do you know, I would pay to read/see that? Although she wasn't green. But.

Oh I love you. Not only did you do the Azkaban Project, which is bloody fantastic, but you also read and sketch Terry Pratchett! What did you think of Night Watch? I love all the books, but haven't read Carpe Jugulum in forever. Need to do that soon...

Ha, and Granny Weatherwax in Oz, oh dear, the Wiz would have been in even more trouble than he could ever imagine.
