While Monstrous Regiment may not be my favourite Discworld novel, it makes me want to draw almost as much as Going Postal.*

Lt. Blouse, Maladict, and Wazzer!

Romanilily's always going on about how Blouse is played by Hollom in her mental cast (or, rather, by Lee Ingleby, more recognizable to most people in this form) but, character-wise, he leaves me with an impression more of a sort of ... human Dr. Doppler.**

Yes, Maladict looks like every other vampire I've ever drawn (that is to say, he looks like a young Vlad) and also Malfoy. Too bad.

Wazzer ... well, Wazzer is Wazzer. Not much to say on that, really.

It is a good thing the computer I'm on doesn't have a tablet, otherwise I would be getting NO work done on account of mucking about in the paint box.

*Which isn't my favourite Discworld novel either, contrary to all evidence.
**I once worked with someone who could have passed for a human Dr. Doppler ... but I didn't make Blouse look like him.

Which is your favorite Discworld novel? I really did think it was Going Postal, what with all the wonderful drawings you've done lately on that theme. (Plus, it has such quotable quotes!)

Oh, it's definitely quotable, and the most drawable, but ... I think I like Reaper Man more, as far as getting really emotionally involved with it and having it climb into my brain and redecorate in a pleasing manner. Small Gods is very good that way too.

I rather liked Maladict as he was, and then he had to go and talk about underwire nightdresses and ruin it. :(

Hey! The first thing I thought of when I saw Blouse and his scrunched up face was Dr. Doppler, whom I loved. (It is all Treasure Planet's fault that I have an LJ and friends on it, because the day after I saw it, I immediately ran to join an LJ community. xD; Ah, obsession.)

Treasure Planet is The Doppler Movie. I don't care what anyone says, it's all about Doppler. Not only is he the most interesting character in both writing* and design, but his animation is THE BEST EVER. I mean, there is no way you're watching anyone else when he's onscreen.** Sergio Pablos kicks Glen Keane's butt^ in that movie, and that takes a lot of doing!

What better place to put it than in a foot note?

Thank you! xD okay, all those Jim fangirls? Totally heading in the wrong direction. Gosh, for maybe a year or more I had just the hugest crush on Doppler, which was sort of embarrassing, actually. I was pretty indignant when I saw in the director's commentary on the DVD that some of his parts had been cut — they were afraid that he would show up Jim, apparently. Psssh! And also he wore the coolest clothes ever. Of course, he wouldn't have been nearly as good if there hadn't been David Hyde Pierce, who is also pretty darn neat.

*throws hands up in air* They're just footnotes!
