Adventure Update (part 1)

I promised to post about my adventures now I've rejoined the land of the living, but for most of November and December I was too busy either having adventures or working (mostly working, to be honest) to sort, choose, upload, and post my photos. Here in this tiny gap of slightly freer time, I'm trying to catch up, so:
ADVENTURES IN NOVEMBER
Or, Novemberventures

San Francisco is so cool it's all like 'Yeah, we've got an illuminated art installation glorifying literacy, want to make something of it?'

I think this neighbourhood might be slightly ... Italian?

The reservoir near the north end of Hyde St has been emptied and the lid taken off – this mysterious open space in crowded San Francisco has always intrigued me so I was most gratified to find that what was underneath the decaying plywood lid was just as interesting as I had hoped, if not more so. The handmade bricks made it look like a remnant of Roman colonization, but what most attracted my curiosity were the scratches on the floor which looked like they'd been made by some fearful beast ...

Bringing kitty home from L.A.

We saw Thor 2 in a grand old movie palace which has been kept in great shape, and our 3D VFX fest was preceded by a good old-fashioned Wurlitzer performance.

My brother-in-law's birthday was celebrated at Half Moon Bay, where I filled my camera with photographs and my pockets with interesting rocks.

Iceplant!

The Half Moon Bay Ritz-Carlton has the rare distinction amongst modern buildings of adding charm to the vista rather than subtracting it.

The South Bay seems to have been planted in the specific interest of maximum autumn colour. The gingkos, especially, were resplendent, and backlit on a Sunday morning were better than a pot of gold.

I visited my parents for American Thanksgiving. They live way Out West, more West than the West Coast even.

We drove even further Out West from their suffocating suburban subdivision for some stargazing.

WEST.

It was opening weekend of Frozen but we went hiking instead.

I've been to quite a few great art galleries, but two of my favourite paintings in the world are in the Southwest terminal at SLC, with no mention of the artist's name. Here I share them with you so you don't have to go to Utah, and if anyone has any idea who painted them, or if Southwest is going to sell them when the terminal gets reno'd, please drop a line.

And now I never have to go to Utah again. (She said, perhaps ironically lacking foresight.)
