A couple drawings, nothing terribly exciting....

Havelock and "Bobbi" . . . the scene from Night Watch. It is coloured because, well... it's all about the colour. I'm not too crazy about the purple lady* but I like young Vetinari, as long as I ignore his resemblance to John Dearheart.

Susan at 16 [IN COLOUR! You may need to refresh your browser] . . . I recently recieved (and therefore started to read) Soul Music, the first book with Susan in it. I haven't drawn Susan for a couple years so tried to remember what I did before and improve on it... That book always makes me want to listen to "American Pie." The song, not the movie, you sickos! Bleh, how they could tarnish such a great song with such a horrid movie, it's a travesty.

*The drawing, not the colouring. The colouring is very straightforward.

For a good time, check out the flatulent cat. Yes, he really is flatulent in the book. Something about gaseous cats is just ... amusing. If you're not confined in small spaces with them. And if you want the line drawing, it is here.

Hey! Tealin! Has anyone ever told you you're a really good drawer?!

Wait, do you like drawing or something?

You might say she's top drawer. Well, I might say it anyway.

Havelock is so wonderfully . . . aloof, is it? And Bobbi makes me giggle; she is pretty much the rock. xD *cooes over Kitty*

Susan: *looks vaguely black JUST KIDDIN' YA* :O

Color will rock, and verily so.

*snickers* The flatulent cat is fantastic, by the way.

Ah, the thoughts of your pictures with color are simply divine. I might tackle them myself, but I simply do not know what they look like. I managed to get my hands on The Color of Magic, but my local bookstore is simply too sporadic and I can't get The Light Fantastic. And right now I'm on an Arthurian kick anyway. So no chance of transferring.

Anyway. I'm sad to say I'm more excited about your kitty than your people. They always look so hypnotically pleased.

That book has got to be one of my favorites out of the whole series, I mean who wouldn't want to see Vimes, Vetinari and all the rest as their younger selfs. It is just perfect, add a revolution and Voila you have your self an excellent book.

The only problem I have with it is Downey's character and only because it has inspired so much fanfiction portraying him as a older version of his younger self. It just annoys me, I really like him in The Hogfather and it gets me when people say "Oh, he was so mean."

Your young Vetinari, is just perfect, his look...it is Vetinari.

Susan I have always thought of as having really wispy hair, that floats up around her head, that is the only problem I have with Paul Kirby's drawing of her, apart from that, excellent work as usual.

I use Photoshop 7, and favour the spatter-y looking brushes that are marked "14" and "24" in the menu, but I think that's just in reference to the default size. The characters are mostly coloured with the plain old regular brushes that are first on the list, with the pressure sensitivity turned on. I don't like anything with the gauzy edges, I think the airbrush tool and related things give the artwork too much of an artificial look. I like to play with opacity and layering strokes to get a sort of gradient effect like you see on the edges, rather than uniformly fuzzing it out.

Um... Bobbi is the woman? Not that I'm against that kind of thing, but I thought there might be a little ... unclarity there. Especially with young Havelock's similarity to a couple of drawings on your site.

Whups! My poor dislexic mind...

My site? Rrreeally? I would not be surprised as I am somewhat partial to long faced, big nosed men with stringy lengths of hair.

I am starting to think it may have been a figment of my imagination, but I'm pretty sure there was a post here yesterday mentioning the similarity of Susan's costume to Violet Baudelaire's ... While I admit there is definitely a similarity, I think it's limited to the shape of the collar and the fact that it is about as shapeless as a pillowcase (something mentioned specifically in the book, give or take 'pillowcase'.) It's her school uniform, and I wanted to make it look like the polar opposite of an anime sailor suit in the sexiness department, hence the shape of the collar, but now I'm thinking maybe I should make it square.

I think shapeless dresses are a sort of universal orphan thing.

Ah yes, that was me. Sometimes (though not very often) I post comment, have a total panic attack coupled with a bout of low-self-confidence and decide that what I had just written was really quite stupid, and before I know it I've deleted it.

There's something else I noticed, she has pigtails?
