Cabin Pressure Advent: Ottery St Mary

Cabin Pressure was always the listening of choice on foodie expeditions from Burbank to Torrance, and Ottery St Mary seemed to be the episode we'd land on most often. Appropriate for the road trip episode, I suppose, and now it's permanently linked to being stuck in traffic on the 110 passing downtown, bellies full of ramen. There were some good times in LA.

Then I got everyone (well, the FUN people) on Duet to play Yellow Car. Do you know how many yellow cars there are in Silicon Valley? Way more than you expected when you started everyone playing Yellow Car.

It's pretty much a perfect episode. Character, drama, music, layers, emotional complexity, and an ending that makes you want to shout 'YAY!'

I've wanted to draw this illustration literally since I first heard the episode, so I'm happy it turned out exactly how I wanted.

Oh wow. Best ever episode (although the one with Captain Winnie the Pooh, Finn McCool the sheep and Arthur being the Voice of the Airport came close) and probably my favourite drawing yet!

The light behind them is just beautiful. Each of them are just so themselves. Arthur's so happy. Martin's hop-"helping". Douglas is so Douglas. You even have the piano stool on top, and somehow that's adorable.

I don't know why, but I've always got the image of Martin sitting on top of the piano while Dough and Arth push it along...

I was really looking forward to this episode and Yay!!! :D

ETA: I just saw Finnemore's blog. Oh. My. GOD!!! *FLAILS*

Yeah, I always did too, but I thought that would be a bit cruel of Martin, on top of making them push for him; he can be oblivious sometimes but that might have been a bit much even for him. Then I read JF's deleted scene and it has Martin hop up on the piano! So I guess we were picking up on a bit of author telepathy there.

I think it was also the "come on, he couldn't possibly hop on one leg all the way over..." thing that was going through my mind. Hee!
