Imp y Celyn - The star. Something is majorly wrong with the pose but I try to look at the anatomy and it all seems okay to me... the neck's a little long but that never stopped Pocahontas. And: I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ROCK-AND-ROLL GUITARS!
Asphalt - I'm not sure exactly how a troll (made of stone) can be squished by an elephant (made mostly of water) but he was. Now he's The Band With Rocks In's official stagehand.
Cliff (né Lias) - One of nature's drummers. I liked the description of his glasses. The rest of him needs some tweaking.
Young Nobby - I tried drawing him a few days ago and didn't really like how it turned out (he looks too human, for one thing)... but I thought maybe other people would like to see. I don't know enough about top hats.

These'll probably turn up on my website very soon because it's just so darn easy to update now! (woo!)

Moist's freakout is coloured! (and slightly fixed, by the way...) This was for a rather bizarre icon I made for Romanilily, though I don't know if she'll use it on LJ.

Trolls are good, trolls are very good. Cliff looks exactly like a (excuse the pun) rock star, the glasses are a nice touch.

Nobby, well I am sorry to say that I have been hugely influenced by Paul Kirby and feel that his version of yound Nobby is just well Nobby. Yours is a good drawing but not how I picture him.

Completly off the subject, but I like your Hermione.

Yes, I defer to Paul Kidby's Nobby ... well, young Nobby. I would have used it as reference except I was on the bus at the time and didn't have the book with me. Besides, he's just ... so ... tiny on the cover. I'm not crazy about his grown-up Nobby: to me he looks like a short, pimply, mostly-clean-shaven Rincewind.

And, a general word to the populace:
JOSH KIRBY ... PAUL KIDBY
Josh Kirby was the one who painted the old covers for Discworld, the ones that are all ... burbly. Paul Kidby started doing Discworld art in, I think, 1992, but has only taken over covers since Josh Kirby's demise.
Unless you're reading the American editions, in which case the covers are done by some sort of graphic design person.

You aren't the only one, that's why I thought it necessary to point out.

Hey, these are cool! I love the top hat guy. What are these from?

I think guitar guy's head might be too small or something.

These are from, Soul Music a Discworld book and by the wat the first one I ever read.

I spent the next year looking for more Susan books, I was so focused on them that I ignored the other books for some time.

I like the contrast between Imp's clothes and the electric guitar.
The Nobby draing reminds me of a character in a Charles Dickens novel, who I can't remember. It's the shabby top hat... this is going to keep me up at night.

Well, young Nobby practically is a character in a Dickens novel. For that matter, adult Nobby could be, too...

Are you thinking of The Artful Dodger? I've never read Oliver Twist (gasp!) but I'm pretty sure it's one of those kids who has the top hat.

Yay for Google. I was thinking of a character from Sketches by Boz (http://www.worldwideschool.org/library/books/lit/charlesdickens/SketchesbyBoz/chap42.html). I have absolutely no idea why I though of him in particular, his shabby coat is what's described the most.

Remembering The Artful Dodger would have made much more sense.

Dodger and Bill Sikes have top hats. Bill's is more floppy like Nobby's there.

I am a bookaholic but have never read a Dickens novel, the stage production of Oliver is good enough for me, I was Charlotte when my drama group did it.

(I am totally going through and replying to every entry of yours that I've missed; fear!)

Lady, you've just made me go and check out Soul Music again just so I can read it with your illustrations in mind. Gosh, I don't even know what I think they look like and still your art seems exactly right. But Nobby looks altogether too human, I think. ;D

P.S. Teehee, Moist is blushing.
