My first day here, and I already find an amusing example of international near-sightedness...
Okay, okay, this was in an ad, not an actual newspaper article, but still. I particularly like how Saskatchewan is labelled waaaaay up north, at the inconvenience of the typography. Hah, at least they labelled them correctly! You'd never guess from the wording of the caption that the wild and exotic wilderness of Saskatchewan would hold something like this:

Ah, amusement.

This afternoon we begin our land journey south into the boiling cauldron of the Southwest, escaping a forecast high of 100°F (38°C) to stay the night somewhere whose forecast high is 113°F (45°C). People actually live there by choice! I am perplexed. On the other hand, it'll be like driving through tier after tier of Dragons layouts, which will be ... well, I suppose interesting in a way.

Ironically, despite the 'Orange' security level, my trip through Customs and the airports was possibly the smoothest yet. However, upon arriving home, I did discover this in my luggage:

To protect you and your fellow passengers, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is required by law to inspect all checked baggage. As part of this process, some bags are opened and physically inspected. Your bag was among those selected for physical inspection.
During the inspection, your bag and its contents may have been searched for prohibited items. At the completion of the inspection, the contents were returned to your bag.

Woo! I am a suspicious passenger! It was probably the way I packed one bag inside the other and stuffed the inter-baggage space with mango gummies. Actually, it was probably the digital camera and coiled USB cord ... I'd like to thank the TSA for fixing my camera. It wasn't working when I packed it, but it is now! You guys are great!
