GOP Gospel: Lip Service
Mar. 18th, 2021 09:00 pmDay 25 of my Lent project. For background, please read this.
A reading from the Gospel according to the GOP:
Matthew 7:21-32
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.'"
A reading from the Gospel according to the GOP:
"Truly I tell you, all those who publicly profess my name will be smiled upon by my Father in heaven, for they had the courage of their convictions and were not afraid to proclaim my greatness to the multitude. Should you cast out demons or do deeds of power in my name, then you raise my acclaim upon earth, and your reward will be great in heaven. For that is how I know which sheep are mine: they know the name of the shepherd and call it continously."
