My sister and I have been watching the version of Nicholas Nickleby that features both James Darcy and Lee Ingleby.
At one point they travel to Portsmouth to see if they could find work on a ship. I found this endlessly amusing.
I long ago concluded that Mr Ingleby would be the perfect Quirrell, and upon watching this mostly non-naval film I have decided that Mr Darcy would make an ideal Tom Riddle. Tall, pale, handsome, long fingers, country estate ...

On an entirely different subject – drawings!

Crowley's Special Delivery - This is mostly a rough draft... I'm not terribly happy with anything (Crowley's pose, Ligur and Hastur, the perspective on the tombstone, the colour of pencil I used, etc) but it's not too bad to put up for now. How far can someone lean back before they fall over? And what does their neck look like when doing so? This is something I need to find out before I redo it.

Harry and the Minister - I was so pleased with my earlier design for Mr Lion that I was disappointed when he had a small and two-dimensional role. What the heck, I drew him anyway. I hope he turns out to be faking this whole self-interested-politician thing. I mean, he's an Auror, right? And Aurors are cool, right?

Should crazed Master & Commander fans even be allowed to watch this movie? They should do, like, a background check at the library or something. Offer you two mealworms and if you choose the smaller one, you don't get to check out the video. Or something.
All prior cast member associations aside, it was actually really good. Really. And I want it known that the casting was SO GOOD that I predicted the twist at the end! Hah!

I thought that with the minister too..that hed have a bigger part because jo let us read his description...tottaly sounded like someone important to the plot...but I guess not. Awesome design though.

I think he's going to be horribly important in the next book. he has to be more than a mild pain in Harry's side just so we can hate politicians.

I liked how you drew the minister. Very cool indeed. I liked Harry's expression of irritable "would you please just go away?"

I went all squee!ful over how you did Crowley...and I loved the backing up thing. It looks natural, in my opinion. And every time I see those sunglasses, I think "Flash Bastard". :)

I do really have a feeling that noone in the world has the same image of "Mr. Lion" :-)

i really like the expression in harrys face too...its awesome..

i was also disappointed over the minor role the minister actually played...

and what was that inquiry that the ministry would do about Sirius Black? in the first chapter page. 17 (UK edition) ????

Mr Lion looks just how I imaginesd him, his role wasn't that small really. He got more page time than Lupin anyway. As much of a self absorbed politician he is, he's better than Fudge...and he has cool hair ;)
Harry's expression is great, you can tell what's going on in his mind isn't quite as polite as 'Will you go away please?' Keep 'em coming! :)

I have never read Good Omens, yet that picture made me laugh out loud! I love Crowley's position and expression - so ... funny. I need more words.

Harry's overcoat is also fantastic, and I like Scrimgeour very much. Menacing in a very lionish way, and also quite self-satisfied methinks.

First drawing: PERFECT. Maybe you're unhappy with it, but all of it makes me so HAPPY. It's like this tiny inner fangirl is jumping around inside my head right now, flailing and cooing and random verbs of that caliber. Aand the expressions are super. xD I am endlessly amazed/amused by Crowley. ♥!, although Aziraphale more so.

Second: Meh, Harry Potter. NO I KID. Boy, everyone's image of Mr Lion is different, innit. I have seen, like, twenty different versions of him. But I agree; his role was surprisingly . . . tiny. And sort of flat. :( WHERE ARE MY COMPLEX CHARACTERS MAN!

When I saw the picture with Scrimgeour in it a huge smile seized my mouth and made me show my teeth to my computer monitor. The hair was the first thing I saw, just like a lion's mane, and then the glasses, and then parts of the face - the lion-like look to the jaw and something in the shape of his eye sockets. Go Tealin!

When I read and immediately recognized the description of Scrimgeour in the opening chapter of HBP I was excited, and when Scrimgaeur turned out acting like a cooler-looking Fudge I was dissapointed and confused - why did JK release a snippet that sounded so important for a character that didn't do much? Ah well, maybe Scrimy will introduce the wizarding world to the Muggles or something decisive.

Thanks for sharing!! Very cool. I was weird and pictured the new minister looking like a mix between Jeff Goblum and a friend of mine, only he talked and acted more like Sam Neil. But then again, I saw Moody as a cartoony Danny Devito as the Penguin, so there you go. :B Oh yes, and Luna has glasses. Sometimes.

And the minister looks awesome. I was having trouble reconciling the "leonid" quality with the fact that he was really kind of a wimpy politician. I think your version captures him well. Good job!

I really like your take on Rufus Scrimsomething (<-heh, can't remember how to spell it...) He's a lot different than all the others I've seen. Mostly they look like Madeye Moodys, but with different hair.

PS: Just wondering, is it possible to start the Discworld series on any other book besides the first one and not be utterly confused? I really want to read them, but my library doesn't have the first one!

Well, it's too late for Quirrell, unfortunately, and they've cast Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort in #4, but y'know, all those flashbacks in #6 ... can't you just see Mr D'Arcy (forgot the apostrophe first time, sorry) asking Dumbledore for a job? He's just got to work on smiling evilly. He's already good at the venomous glare.

By the time they're ready for a Potter remake, Mr Ingleby will probably be too old, alas. Ah well. He can play the part in my sketchbook, at least.
