There was a description of Hagrid beaming at Harry in the hut on the rock at the beginning that put me strongly in mind of Totoro, dunno why.

Dursleys cowering in fear...
Vernon's hand is totally crap. I am most ashamed. I don't know anything about guns but I should still have been able to do better than that rubbish.

Speeding back to the mainland... Harry's head gave me no end of grief and I don't know why. I've decided to blame my incredibly bad drawing days lately on the fact that I'm basically doing just little noodly detail work in Photoshop every day at work. :P Can't wait for the school year to start so I can go to life drawing again...

4:47 pm

Maybe a bit too young, but I like it. Once again, the way to cure a bad drawing day is to complain about it.

AHAHAHAHAHA omg you KNOW Hagrid would want a TOTORO. OMG I request a picture of Hagrid and a Totoro grinning at one another, they'd totally be the same size!!

I think Hagrid would prefer one of those giant bug things from Nausicaa, myself.

hagrid- i LOVE how you had hagrid look more comical. did you use a different paper, or did you change the tint on photoshop?

dursleys- dude, i dont ever remember you ever drawing petunia, she looks awesome. and about the gun thing.... i dont know anyone that can draw guns right, so don't worry.

the boat- god! i would have never thought of making the boat tilt.

Hilarious idea for the first doodle.

And your Uncle Vernon reminds me of Maurice from Beauty and the Beast, only not bald. And quite bastard-ly. And with a gun. Which is perfect.

These are awesome. I've been checking on your website periodically for ages and fanboying you from afar like an idiot, so now I shall fanboy you up close and personal since you have a livejournal.

*fanboys*

I particularly like Harry's posture up in the front of the boat. Nice work :)

the harry potter films should of SO been disney movies! Thats my theory!

No. Not Disney. Not with current management.

Animation would have been very cool, but alas it is strictly forbidden in the movie rights contract.

LOL totoro xDDDD

love the dursleys, love the boat scene.

and man, you are the master of natural looking poses. AND the master of that 1/4th angle.. (is that what it's called?) Like the side of hagrid's face in the boat. Whenever I go to draw that angle, I start and I'm just.. stumped is probably the best word. I can picture it, but as soon as that pencil touches the paper it just.. does not do what I want it to. I need to just get someone and be like "OK STAND HERE.. and I'll draw you. And I'll be behind you and to the side. ..Stop looking at me like that."

Anyway, the side of harry's face in my last art entry is about as good as I get w/ that angle.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY FIGURE DRAWING CLASS TO START.

It comes of drawing the innocent, unsuspecting people sitting in front of me on the bus. (I am wicked.) I've drawn so many 3/4 back sitting down poses it's not even funny. Unfortunately, I don't know what the waist wrinkles on a coat look like because the bus seat is usually covering that up.

LIFE DRAWING RULES!

That first Hagrid there.... yeah... reminds me a LOT of Totoro too @_@ That was a good movie. Very happy. I liked the catbus whole bunches. And the umbrella scene.

Bah. Sick. Would type more, but require rest.

I really liked the Petunia, and the Harry pose is just awesome. Hagrid is slightly frightening, but good nonetheless.

Not good at drawing people holding shotguns huh? Watch Pocahontas again then or get the Pocahontas art book. Stephen Rebello did one. I know, 'cuz I have it! (cackles XD) Seriously though, they have a LOT of people holding shotguns in that movie, although they were more... muskety then. Thought you might like that :)

Totoro? As in "My neighbor Totoro?" I dont think I even want to know... I have had the misfortune of seeing that, once. Cant remember anything about it, except that it was frightening.

Totoro!Hagrid is slightly...creepy. I think it's the big teeth. His suspenders, however, are great. :D

Hello! I don't think I've posted on your journal before, but I've been reading it for a while now for HBP pictures. :) The new drawings are brilliant! I wish I could draw like that. I love the Dursleys and Harry and Hagrid in the boat best.

Trust me, an artist almost always hates their own work. I'm a writer and I know I hate most of what I've done and edit to no end. As a result nothing I write ever gets finished. Lol.

Okay, I'm not sure if I like Totoro!Hagrid....he's flippin' creepy, man!

Your Dudley is pleasantly dumpy, your Petunia is amazingly scrawny and horsey, but your Vernon is scaring me slightly by looking like a badass mechanic; he looks like he means business! O.O

That boat scene pic is the best ever (I don't know the best ever of what). Riding a speedboat is very fun!

Last drawing is cuuuuuuuuuute! *hugs him*

There's a new challenge? Wicked! I am so there! (If I can get any time in between marriages, movings, and Halloween costumes...) Man, I have to choose between Pre-Raphaelite and Film Noir? But they're both so cool! Now I have to remember what my favourite scene in HBP was...

Date: 2005-08-26 06:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com
I was tempted to do Noir because I need to work on dramatic staging, but the scene I'm actually thinking of doing would be better suited to the P-R school. So ... yeah.

me, again.

I want to take Gavroche home and put him in a cage next to my bed and make cooing noises at him every so now and then.

Because I love him very, very much. :(

Dude, speaking as a Chinese who grew up on Totoro and cat-buses, I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that Hagritoro is the best thing ever. I am tempted to icon; if I ever feel like fulfilling that temptation, would you mind?

HAHA VERNON IS A HICK. (Speaking from Redneck Land, I feel I can also make that judgement.)

Harry is so skinny! Let's feed him!

*Gasp* I love it! I didn't even recognize Hagrid at first! Now I do, though. :)

My favorite is definitely the one with Hagrid and Harry on the boat. It's just such a great freedom moment that we didn't really see in the books and it's truly appropriate, seeing as he's literally flying away from the family that he hates and hated him back. I've saved it for my desktop. It's just so "awww". ;)

The Dursleys are quite comical. I love the dumbstruck looks. Perfecta. :D (Hey, I think this is the first time I've ever really gotten the chance to review your work. I do indeed love it to itty bitty pieces. Happy Labor Day, BTW!)
