The worst part, the worst part, was that Lord de Worde was never wrong. It was not a position he understood in relation to his personal geography. People who took an opposing view were insane, or dangerous, or possibly not even people. You couldn't have an argument with Lord de Worde. Not a proper argument. An argument, from arguer, meant to debate and discuss and persuade by reason. What you could have with William's father was a flaming row.

The Truth, pg 290 (UK)

After the Ankh-Morpork debacle, Lord de Worde went on to be a pundit on American political talk shows.

Mr Pin, based largely on what I'd absorbed of Mr Kidby's illustration (quite a lot) with a dash of whoever played Mr Lush in my sister's DVD of Daniel Deronda.

Charlie (yes, really), in the wine cellar. I forgot to tie him up. Maybe he forgot he was tied up, too. After all, there's lossa ... wossname ... stuff you get in brel... bar... braller... things.

And now, from Guards! Guards!:

Lupine Wonse, after the coronation – I admit he looks like a really bland character but really I find it hard to picture him any other way. It's been so long since I've read this book; I had hardly any memory of any of it.* I'd always discounted it as the sort of proto-Watch book where the characters weren't really defined yet, and in a way they are a little raw, but it's so good. Ah well, the neglect has kept it fresh.

*Aside from the description of Vimes's breakfast, which runs along the lines of 'lots of fat and carbohydrates, and perhaps a vitamin weeping softly because it was all alone.'

Might have been, might have been. Or it might have also been inspired by observations of real life, which contains many of these people.

You know that Charlie fellow looks like your design of Snape when he was bearded. Only more in a pleasanter mood. (More pleasant?)

Drunk, you mean. :)

Actualy, Charlie looks like Vetinari and Vetinari looks like bearded Snape. They're both described as tall, thin, dressed in black, black hair, a somewhat haughty look – the only difference is that Vetinari definitely has a beard whereas Snape probably doesn't. Oh, and Snape has longer hair. I hope my Snape has evolved enough to let Vetinari take over his former appearance.

I wonder what would happen if they ever met...

Yes drunk. So much for subtlety. :P

If Vetinari and Snape every met? I don't know, what is Vetinari from?

I must say that Charlie is my favorite of these three drawings. It just seems to have more... character to it. XD

I credit the alcohol.

Or the lack of character in the other drawings...

I was going to reply with "Oh 'ING" but then I remembered that was Mr. Tulip.

xDD MAN HA HA.

You know, I never could imagine Charlie, because that would mean imagining a loose Vetinari. And that image has always been totally beyond me.
