"Bin the headphones and listen to gentle things like BBC Radio Four," he was told.

Date: 2006-01-05 09:01 pm (UTC)I have really small ears, and I can't hear people very well in crowded places like school, but I'm really sensitive to loud noises. You'd think I wouldn't be able to hear them ^^;
I wince in sympathy for the ears of people with mp3 players that you can hear donsh-doonsh-doonshing from 10 feet away. I mean, ow! DX

At work we had a running joke about developing conversational cue cards to hold up to people wearing Ipods so one could communicate with them :-) (Like: KINDLY STOP STANDING ON MY FOOT, PLEASE and YOU ARE GOING INTO THE WRONG BATHROOM)

Date: 2006-01-06 07:38 pm (UTC)I haven't watched Dora the Explorer, but I did used to watch a lot of Saturday morning cartoons until about two years ago when most of them seemed to be getting loud as you say... almost like they equate people shouting with being funny.
