Skagra is a very stereotytpical SciFi bad guy, so of course he needs to look like one.

And now, an illustrated skit:
SKAGRA: Give me the book.
DOCTOR: What book?

SKAGRA: The little green one, in your pocket, there.

DOCTOR: Oh, you mean this book? No, I'm sorry, you can't have it.

Good ol' Skagra goes incognito on Earth in 1979. Of course he'd still be wearing his silly Spandex skullcap thing. I think the shirt should be pink, don't you? I'm also working on a design for the Doctor based on Paul McGann's voice and trying not to be influenced too much by any pictures. I'm afraid the hair found its way in, but since I learned the behavioural patterns of longish slightly curly hair I just can't help myself (thank you, Warley). I still feel like I've drawn him somewhere else before ... does he really look like all my other guys?

HEY! I found where you can still listen to the awesomeness! HERE! I highly recommend just listening to the audio and not the Flash animation ... it's quite possibly the laziest Flash animation I have ever seen (doubly painful for the ridiculously fantastic voice track they had to work with) and it may detract from your experience. Requires RealPlayer, of course.

This is my first comment to your livejournal, so whee. I love your art - you saved me from drawing anime and manga a couple of years back and I've been a fan ever since. Hope you don't mind me friending you! :)

((What are you supposed to do on the movie meme? Cross which ones you've seen or..?))

Yeah, x the ones you've seen. I introduced the "." thing because I've seen halves of lots of movies...)

Wow, I am honoured to have saved you from such a fate!

I second jesterquin's comments! With all the animation focus on 3d CGI and movies abandoning their hand drawn animation, I really feel some hope when I see people like you encouraging traditional animation.

Hahahahaha! That Skagra is perfect and wonderful and I'm laughing my head off at the brilliance of your design. And your Doctor is great as well -- strikes me as what McGann's Doctor might have become if they'd only inducted him into the series instead of waiting for 1996. That innocent expression is very Doctorish.

Thanks for posting this!

Um ... [shifty eyes] ...yes.

Where has the rest of the season gone? The CBC seems to be denying its existence at the moment ... Is it coming much later, or do we get it a year late like we do Coronation Street?

Date: 2006-01-09 07:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rj-anderson.livejournal.com
Last season the CBC ran it a mere two weeks behind the BBC, so I imagine this year it will be the same -- or perhaps they'll even keep pace this time. The new season is due to start in March and run for thirteen episodes; TCI was just a "Christmas special".

Speaking of good british writing, have you heard that the BBC have made a tv version of Johnny and the Bomb? *jumps up and down with anticipation*. Thanks for your link to Shada by the way. I wish they'd done a tv series with Paul McGann....

Didn't they? Where do the pictures come from then?

Yes, I have heard ... I wonder if there's any way to see it without actually flying over there.

There's also been a musical (musical!) written for Only You Can Save Mankind. (Which would make a fantastic movie, by the way.)

Nicey nice Doctor pics. I wanted to recommend something to you. I don't know if you've ever read 'Jonathan Strang and Mr. Norrel' by Susana Clark, but based on the stuff you seem to like I'll bet it's right up your alley. You should check it out if you haven't yet.

Aha, yes I have ... I even drew Childermas. If you dig through journal entries from .. uhhh ... when did I read it? Well, it's got a 'drawing' tag and possibly a 'review' tag as well, so that should make it easier.

I was never able to find the original link from buttfacemakani, but I assume you just total up the number of films you've seen, right? (I think you should LOSE points for seeing certain movies :P - like what was up with the "B-Cup Princesses, etc??)
From: [identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com
The Notebook (I was the only one in the audience who was male and not bawling my eyes out - go figure)

... Well, one of the times I went to see Master & Commander I was the only female in the audience who had not been brought along by a male significant other. I guess we're both odd fish. (I went to see it by myself and it ended up being possibly the best moviegoing experience I have ever had.)
Constantine was OK (despite being another work of fiction where they kill my favourite character) ... It seemed like there was a lot of development and back story that the makers didn't quite know how to incorporate into the film and still keep the pace up ... it was very graphic-novelish.
From: (Anonymous)
What a coincidence! I ALSO watched "Master and Commander" by myself, on a lunch break from work on a weekday (it was gloriously naughty! Ha ha! and a great movie!). Of course, I see almost ALL movies by myself...(who's laughing now?)
BTW, I realized I'd overlooked a couple of entries from the movie test: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which I really liked) and The Breakfast Club, which I have seen the last half of on television way too many times (does that count? I hope so, because I don't think I can bear to watch the whole thing. I can only take so much whining - "We're not bad kids. It's our PARENTS! They all hate us! They've ruined our lives! All adults are EVIL...blah blah blah shoot me now please")
---Mark
From: (Anonymous)
I was just going to say, many of my best movie-going experiences (heck, some of the best experiences period - concerts, galleries, amusement parks, nature hikes, sunrises, etc.) have been solo - I would have missed out on a lot of wonderful memeories if I would have waited around for somebody to come along and share them with me. Although I must admit, eating out by myself tends to be depressing (especially if I don't have any reading material - or maybe I should do more sketching...)
--DisneyBoy
From: (Anonymous)
Sorry - I meant to preview that (I probably counted wrong a few times) before I posted it - butterfingers! I was just going to say that I haven't seen that many more movies than you, and I have, what, a 12-year head start? And that's not even counting some really classic movies not mentioned on this list that I still haven't seen. How embarrassing. (If you haven't already guessed, this is Mark)
