[sits back and watches as two whole people get it]

And, a passage that I'd planned on posting re:Disney a while ago, which I hope is now irrelevant, but don't hope enough that it keeps me from posting it anyway:
... Craftsmen. D'you know what that means? It means men with some pride, who get fed up and leave when they're told to do skimpy work in a rush, no matter what you pay them. So I'm employing people as 'craftsmen' now who're barely fit to sweep out a workshop. But you don't care, because if they don't polish a chair with their arse all day you think a man who's done a seven-year apprenticeship is the same as some twerp who can't be trusted to hold a hammer by the right end.

Going Postal, pg 267 (UK)

I realise this could be interpreted as a dig on the qualities of the artists at Disney and I want one and all to know I don't mean it that way – rather on the qualifications regarded by the brass hats as necessary of a person to make important creative decisions.

I get the Valentine for Disney & Pixar joining...but I don't get exactly who the pirate is. Or, is he random Pirate #1?

The original drawing (http://www.nocturnalsoldier.org/Tealin/xhp/disc/reacher.jpg) is actually almost a year old – I just modified it a bit and cleaned it up tonight. And coloured it. And now it is way past my bedtime and I still have to take a shower and I was going to draw from Monstrous Regiment tonight ... by the way, you're up awfully late, aren't you?

P.S.

How can you possibly keep up with your work and do gorgeous stuff like this? Look at you, gettin' down with the computerific photoshoposity! Whereas I haven't even read "Going Postal" yet - I'm such a sluggard. It looked a little to me like Bluebeard extending a valentine to one of his soon-to-be ex-wives. But I'm telling you, I totally don't think it's going to be that way, with Lasseter being given so much control, and Jobs being the major stockholder at Disney now. The only danger I see for Pixar is becoming like us - too successful, too fat and lazy and complacenet and greedy. But hope springs eternal!

Wow, that's almost exactly how I pictured him :D Somehow the Disney ears just add to the general evil aura.

HEEE! It took me all of .02 seconds to get it as I just finished reading Going Postal. Wow, it's really really good. The shading on his hands and vest blow me away.

And I miss hand drawn animation in Disney movies. Especially since my friend and I have been glutting ourselves on Hayao Miyazaki films this month. I like Pixar and their computer animated movies but there's room for both styles in this world!

. . . it was a M&C valentine . . . .

Prepare to be boarded, Valentine.

$1.75 a slice? That's the pie rate around here, Valentine.

What kind of mileage do we get? 18 miles to the galleon, Valentine

I bought you a pair of earrings for $2, that's a buccaneer, Valentine

It only gets worse . . .

A2

To be honest I found it hard to concentrate and was very ansty for the last few hours of work after I got this idea ... and then spent the remaining five hours of the evening working on it, to the sacrifice of dishes, showering, eating a proper dinner, and everything else I should have been doing. But it was worth it. :)

Oh No! This sounds like MY life of late! Only instead of creating brilliant artwork (either for the web OR my employer), I'm constantly checking my e-mail as well as this journal, and posting stuff! I'm a hopeless addict.
