First Wee Free Men, now Hogfather on film.

I want to see those sketches in the background of that one picture ... [presses face to monitor]

Well, who knows how long it'll be before we see it on this side of the pond ... If what I've deduced from the BBC is correct, 'Sky' is a sort of sattelite network, so it'd be like it was produced for HBO over here; not a theatrical thing. Hogfather's one of the ones I like to start people on who haven't read the series because it spoofs the universally familiar* Christmas traditions, so the first-time reader isn't plunged into a completely alien land head-first. I feel vindicated by this having been chosen as ...well, one of the first Discworld movies. Wee Free Men is, in my mind, about as distinct from the series as Monstrous Regiment (more in some ways, less in others) so it makes sense to start with that one too. Anwyay, to get around to your question, I'd read the book after seeing the movie because I agree with you completely on the movie/book comparison thing. If you know the movie's coming out, put off reading the book till after.

*at least, in some parts of the world once part of the British Empire.
