HOGFATHER????!!!!! Yes, DEATH on film! I wonder who's going to voice DEATH, though.

Another thing to read...(sigh)

Would you recommend reading "Hogfather" before the film arrives? I often find that I enjoy the film more if I'm not comparing it to the book, and I usually enjoy the book, anyway, since it's usually got so much more to offer (The Chronicles of Narnia was the rare case in which, in some instances, they actually plussed the book!)

Do you think the book will translate well to film? How will they capture the quirky narration, and the Pratchettian footnotes?

The best way to describe my reaction is this: Remember in Iron Giant where the cheesy scientist in the movie flicks the light switch? Okay, now imagine me pulling the face and going "Hmmmmmmmm...".

If they do it well, it will be VODE BEYOND BELIEF. If they do it poorly, they will rue the day they were born.

Somehow, I dun trust ...people making these kinds of movie. They dissapointed me in Harry Potter again and again. I really lost my trust.

I'd wish Terry Gilliam would direct something Pratchety though...

Woohooo! I have been waiting for something like this ever since I met PTerry on a fantasy convention last year in April in the Netherlands. I was dressed up like Susan and he told me that I should keep an eye out for Susan on the silver screen sometime in the future. *squee* Just as I was beginning to worry this pops up on my flist! Thanks for posting :)

*goes back to stare at HEX model and other pics*

But what about all of us loyal fans in the US? If it's going to be on UK TV, how are we going to get see it?

This brings up the question of just how popular Pratchett is in the US. He's hugely popular in the UK, and the feeling I get is that he's nearly a household name there. He's not quite that popular here, but a lot of people (I'd say about half the people I ask--though this is not a fair sample of the US population, I know a lot nerdy bookish types) know who he is. Would the Canadians say he is more popular there?

Oh, and why are those pictures so freaking tiny?
