Here I am, at work on a Saturday, but behold! I am not working! Sissypoo is using the Cintiq and I am taking the opportunity to have some free time in a creative environment, not distracted by chores, to get some drawing done. I mean to pick up on that Monstrous Regiment project I'd started and then abandoned ... so of course I'm spending my time posting in here and not with my sketchbook, heh. But I have to post yesterday's sketchbook, doncha see?
Yesterday's Sketchbook! - Drawn in ten minutes in bed last night. All-time record, I believe. Most of it's the view of the end of the bed from my pillow. The horse with an identity crisis relates to an issue with the show I'm working on at the moment, and you get twenty points if you guess what was on my mind when I drew that other picture. And remember, points mean prizes. What do points mean?

Not actually prizes. I'm being silly/Humphrey Lyttleton.

The other picture appears to a back pack and... a person under a blanket? So you were packing up for a trip to dreamland or something? Or were you referring to the pointy-faced man with the combover?

And do points mean "pointing at" rather than "points as in prizes?" Like - I am not hoarse (as in like a horse) or something like that? Oh well, it is getting late and I am getting more insane than usual.

Um ... it is not nearly that complicated, at least not puzzly ... just ... random neurons firing in my brain, and therefore hard to guess unless the same random neurons are firing in your brain.

Oh, man... I am trying, trying to guess with the guy pointing. He really looks familiar but I cannot place exactly who he is other than that he is cute and seems o have some connection with the horse who is not a horse. (And that also is annoyingly familiar but I cannot place it!) Arrrgh. I usually am much better at these things than this! As for the image on top, I have to agree with Veronika thata it does look like a rucksack or some over the shoulder bag. I look forward to hearing the answer to know how far from the truth I actually am. :-)

PRIZES! Now wait, are you on Viva Pinata as well? Because one of our fine Pucca crew just left to work on that.

Kate Balfe! She should be on the animation crew. Do you know when the show's supposed to air, though? Because I heard it was to coincide with the release of the game, and they're trying to do that in the fall. For a fall airing, it seems a tad late to _start_ animation. Or maybe not. I suppose there're quite a few months to go.

(sings)"How much is that don-key in the win-dow?(HEE-HAW!)"
Sorry - best I could come up with at 11:30 at night.

Way hey and away we go
Donkey riding, donkey riding
Way hey and away we go
Ridin' on a donkey.

Was you ever in Quebec
Launchin' timber on the deck?
Where ya break yer bleedin' neck
Ridin' on a donkey!

Brought to you by . . . .

GREAT BIG SEA!

A "donkey" in this case is a motorized winch that is used to move cargo from the hold of a ship to the dock. GBS does a lot of nautical songs (as opposed to many modern artists who perform songs about naughty gals).

GBS also has a song called "Hanging Johnny" with lines like:
Well, first I hanged me mother
Away boys, away
Me sister and me brother
And it's hang boys, hang

Well, next I hanged me granny
Away boys, away
Well, I'd hang the Holy Family
And it's hang boys, hang

Apparently, "mother" "sister" "brother" "granny" and "Holy Family" are the nicknames of sails, and the song was a chant sung by sailors as they hand cranked the sails up into place.

I remember that song! It was one of the first songs I learned in the Girl Scouts.

Awwww, that is so neat!

Actually I have not been a Girl Scout since the Jurassic Age. But we did have a cool troop- we tended to be much more outdoors and adventure oriented than many Girl Scouts are. We had this awesome wilderness camp, too, where I worked as a horse wrangler and counselor. There we taught the girls the donkey song and lots and lots and lots of other very irreverent and even mildly subversive songs- but it was great. Girls are so hung up in being proper and fashionable they need to be silly sometimes. I still wind up teaching those songs to people on horseback riding tours when we start singing songs from each others' countries and people think Americans don't know anything more than pop songs.

Yes. We all need to be silly on a regular basis! I'm doing what I can to make up for everyone else's unfilled quotas - it's really hard work! :)

Who?

Man, I hate being on the outside looking in at the cool people - I can see your lips moving, but I have no idea what's being discussed.
