Oh We Like Sheep
Sep. 19th, 2006 10:14 pmI would like to take a moment to say
I LOVE WOOL.
I have long known it's the best thing for keeping out damp cold, it's incredibly durable, and stain-resistant, fairly wrinkle-resistant as well (yet creasable!) and all-around excellent.
Today I splurged and got some heavyweight wool suiting for the frock coat part of my Halloween costume (which I plan on wearing every winter, not just for one day). It is luxurious. Compared to the odd mystery polyester blend I was working with last year, and to the lining I was trying the pattern on last week, it's an absolute dream to pin the pattern to, cut, pin together, and I expect it'll be magnificent to sew and finish as well.
THANK YOU, SHEEP! Keep up the good work!

Not only is it marvelous to sew, it's also incredibly forgiving. O, the rapture of wool.

Sorry they're rather blurry and small ... It's practically the only scene in the movie that has lighting enough to be able to see the waiscoat and jacket at all rather than them just showing up as a black blob.

All we ever get is ray…on!
Ev'ry day we say our prayer --
Will they change what we wear?
Still we get the same old ray…on!
There is not a skirt, not a scarf can we find,
Can we beg, can we borrow, or cadge,
But there's nothing to stop us from getting a thrill
When we all close our eyes and imag...ine
Wool, glorious wool!
Warm sweaters and mittens!
While we're in the mood --
coats, caps and cardigans!
kilts, pullovers and jackets!
What next is the question?
Rich gentlemen have it, boys --
Clothing blessings!
Wool, glorious wool!
We're anxious to try it.
Three changes a day --
Our favorite, try it!!
