I like the effects I see people get in Open Canvas but never had the time or patience to figure it out for myself... I've been poking around with my revised pirates after work (and, now, this weekend) so here's the result. I've probably forgotten things and could fix others but that's about the limit of my patience (for now) and ought to get back to work on my portfolio.

Verdict? And is it too big? I made it 1000px for the 1024x768 crowd because it's hard to guess on a giganto Cintiq.

You're seriously totally amazing. :) I love these pirates - watching them progress and everything has been really entertaining. :D Good job.

I'm runing on 1024x768 It's a good size. Coulda even been a little bigger.

I like it in color. The logo on the crate is nicely done.

Thanks – that's the only thing I had to resort to Photoshop for, for its copy/pasting, free transform tool, 'paint daubs' filter, and opaque layers. Does anyone here know if OC even does opaque layers? Or do I have to cast aside my layer crutch?

Wonderful! I especially love the fluidity of poses, although the expressions are a close second. :)

Amazing! The startbucks logo is a super nice touch. If you don't mind my asking (this may be more relevant to your older drawings that were scanned and coloured and not initially sketched with a tablet), how do you get such a nice digitally coloured layer behind the pencil sketch, while keeping integrity of the pencil line? My scanner won't pick up pencil detail unless it's on grayscale, and then I can't get rid of the surrounding white in Photoshop without having some cruddy white pixels stuck to the outlines. Sorry, I hope that made sense, I'm pretty good at asking elaborate and incomprehensible questions at times...

Aha, it is fiendishly simple! Open your Layers tablet, double-click the layer that's in there, which is your original drawing (it should say 'Background' but when you double-click on it it'll become 'Layer 0' or anything you want to call it), then go up to the srop-down menu that is just above the layer box in the palette and select 'Multiply' from the list. Now add a new layer, pull it under the one your drawing is on, and colour on that: it should look like you're colouring 'under' your drawing. you can do fancy things later like adding more layers for the backgrounds or details you want to be on top of your sketch, but that's how to get started.

AHHH, I lurv it! :D The clothes, man, I would steal and wear all those clothes. Especially Matcha's socks. And Frapp's vest. And ... gah, everything. xD You win at coloring. And the size looks great to me (on my awkwardly sized 1280 x 768).

Aw, thanks ... I think ...

Colouring isn't bad! You should try it some time. It's not addicting at all.
