CLICK FOR TO MAKE BIGGAR!
This is a piece of concept art by Andy Harkness, not a final still from the movie, though of course they're going to try to make it look like that. There seems to be some confusion: Rapunzel is not going to be 2D. It is a 3D film. A very nice 3D film, but it is 3D, not 2D. No matter how much some people may plead and moan, the directors want it 3D and they're the ones in charge.
Many thanks to
floramir for pointing this out, and to
aspectabund for posting the BIG one (and some little ones wot you can see in the comments)! Also to Yahoo Movies and the AP for distributing it. Booo to Aint-it-Cool for being slooooow. :P
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. AAAAAAAAAAAH.

Date: 2008-04-13 04:20 am (UTC)Although having that much hair would be painful, wouldn't it? The weight would be immense, the strain on her back...not to mention what brushing must be like. Ah, fairytales, you beautiful things. This is why adulthood sucks; suddenly you're thinking in terms of scoliosis and hair conditioner instead of the beauty of the tale. Darn it.

Date: 2008-04-13 04:50 am (UTC)I see it that she would wrap her hair around something stationary (a post, maybe), leaving the hair between her and the object slack. The tension would be between the post and the climber. Human hair is strong enough, so long as it's held by something stronger than a scalp.
Maybe she has legions of squirrels who groom her hair for her.
