What better way to celebrate the 141st anniversary of the Confederation of Canada than with some horrible fishy froggy demon creatures? Let's visit the lovely New England seaside town of Innsmouth.

Drew the first one on the table at C&O's last night and managed, I think, to bring it back from the brink of cuteness. When I got home I decided that first one looked like a baby, so I tried making an adult, with varying levels of success, and tried to capture the image of all these froggy fish things clambering for offerings on the rocks of Devil's Reef.

Sorry for the large file; I rather liked the way it scanned so I didn't greyscale or adjust levels which usually brings down the file size.

the huge badly resting on small legs reminds me of the gorged noface from spirited away.

We actually have a lot of fishy froggy demon creatures up in Newfoundland, so this theme is spot on for Canada.

But also collapsed cod stocks, so evidently ~someone~ has been slack on their sacrifices to Dagon.

Why haven't you tried to draw Innsmouth's people?
Just make your perfect demons more antropomorph!

I have (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/twirlynoodle/innsmouthfolk2.jpg), have (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/twirlynoodle/fishman.jpg), and have (http://twirlynoodle.livejournal.com/157317.html) -- they definitely end up too cute.

Yes, the main problem, that they were too cute...
Try to add details: the scales, growing bare hair, spiteful expression of persons, make young more extended, and old more fat and fishy.
There should be no human expressions - only stupidness and angry!
Do not try to make your cute men ,whom you usually draw, scary monsters - try to make monsters more antropomorph.
It's hard to explain - I'll try to draw it myself.

I like the third one from the top. He looks like he swallowed a coconut.

These pictures loaded while I was listening to the orgy scene in Reefer Madness, right as the synth made this creepy diseased-frog noise. O.O

I wouldn't call them cute exactly, but then I never thought anything fishy was ever cute. I like the one that looks like it's swimming. Imagine swimming in a lake where that was lurking under the surface...

Some inspiration for uncuteness?

That is definitely uncute, though he also looks a bit like he's just looking for a hug...

The fatter ones look like they would just sort of lay on a porch.

Kind of like the stereotypical country dog on a hot day.

Is it just me, or is there a very unhappy Kermit being squashed at the very bottom-middle of the frog-wave?
