It's time once again for one of my most annoying habits: Taking sober situations and making light of them for comic effect!

Jack Abramoff Jailed for Corruption
One of two things happened here: either the jury had no choice but to convict because anyone looking at him could tell he was guilty, or since his conviction he's thrown off all pretense and dressed up in character. I mean, look at that outfit! That is not the black fedora and trenchcoat of an innocent man.

Reunited in Meteorology
I don't suppose anyone else has noticed that there is both an Ike and a Josephine in the Atlantic this year. Just me, then? Thought so. I do hope you are all enjoying your mental stability.

The Great Race
Democrat and Republican would have you believe that what really matters are the policies and/or personalities of the candidates for president. I say, don't listen to what those squares tell you; what will decide this race is the quality of the delegates' hats!
Democrats:

Hmm, I see some pretty flamboyant enthusiasm for your candidate there. Do you have an answer, Republicans?

Uniform beige Stetsons. Quantity does not equal quality, people. I expected better.

That's a bit more like it. You still seem afraid to really strut your creativity in the hat form department, though you make up for a certain amount of that with absolute fearlessness in regard to pins.

I ran across something that might have been a tiebreaker, except that each party had one:

Horrible grotesque idolatrous footwear or some sort of political statement involving the term 'flip-flop'? I won't even begin to guess. (Screen grabs from last week's Odd Box.)

Obama's people just look more fun, don't they?

I guess it depends on your definition of 'fun' ... If 'fun' to you means 'courageously silly,' then yes; if it means 'eager to make a point with an excess of pins,' then perhaps the RNC is the place for you.

Touche, pins are indeed super.

This voting thing is getting harder and harder!

I know! The Obama campaign has a really nice logo, but the Republicans use such a classy typeface.* It's so hard to decide where my priorities are!

^^" Vote whomever support Animation Industry lol

I got a news from back home that a couple of artists are getting sick and tired of political parties popping up like daisies since freedom of speech is allowed in Indonesia that they're making a party called PKI (Partai Kartunis Indonesia) which roughly translates to the Cartoonist Faction of Indonesia.

They're also nominating Homer Simpson as Indonesia's next president and Tin Tin as his VP. ^^"

Wow...those flip-flop decorations.....they really take the cake. I have to say (and this might simply be an uninformed comment from an Australian here, but anywhoo), the level of pageantry associated with the US elections (and the length of the campaign process itself) is just astounding!

We get occasional nightly news screenings of the progress down here, and boy do the American political parties know how to put on a show! The closest thing we have to anything like that is Prime-ministerial hopefuls (who are all inevitably short, grey-haired and bespectacled) visiting people in aged-care homes and patting babies outside supermarkets. We could do with some crazy hideous political footwear, I say!

When is the actual election date for you guys?

I think the election is either the first Tuesday in November or November 4th, I don't remember. (looking it up, they appear to be one and the same, which makes it easy to remember this year.) The race has only just officially started! (Not that you'd be able to tell... )

The pageantry and hoo-hah is entertaining to watch from afar but the whole country gets way to wrapped up in it. It was a tremendous relief to move to Canada where they can call a snap election and campaigns last three weeks or something blessedly short like that, and you don't get 18 months of primaries, infighting, and character assassination.

How glad am I that I really don't care who wins? We're probably screwed either way. (What a bright little ray of sunshine, right?)

Anywho, I'll probably vote for Obama anyway.
