I take issue with question 3, because it doesn't take into account Jody's criminal inclinations ... she might still go to jail for something else, even if she doesn't pay her ticket. I mean, if she sent off the cheque and then proceeded to murder her boyfriend, she'd still go to jail, yes? Are we just to assume that Jody is a model citizen who just happened to park in the wrong spot one day? If so, they should put it in the question! Sheesh.

And because this is entirely out of character and therefore quite amusing:
Your dating personality profile:

Good grief, I suspect my father will turn purple when he sees my profile. And maybe harbour a secret desire for someone to firebomb NPR, though he'd never admit it.

You scored as Dwight. You are Dwight.
You are eager to prove your worth to others. You will go out of your way to protect those you care about and people depend on you to get them out of trouble. Though you are helpful to people you like, those who rub you the wrong way are in trouble. You are outta your mind and you don't care who knows it.

Especially interesting as I haven't even seen the movie.

Your Personality Profile

You are elegant, withdrawn, and brilliant.
Your mind is a weapon, able to solve any puzzle.
You are also great at poking holes in arguments and common beliefs.

For you, comfort and calm are very important.
You tend to thrive on your own and shrug off most affection.
You prefer to protect your emotions and stay strong.

That's just freaky.

Your Brain's Pattern

Your brain is always looking for the connections in life.
You always amaze your friends by figuring out things first.
You're also good at connecting people - and often play match maker.
You see the world in fluid, flexible terms. Nothing is black or white.

Haha! Matchmaker! Yeeeeeaaah. And I am so quick on the uptake.

I grabbed this from [livejournal.com profile] buttfacemakani and it's so addictive I did it twice with different criteria. The first result is with all the MP3s I have at home, which is not many*, and the second is with the ones I have at work, which is even fewer, and mostly Les Mis.

1. What do you think of me, Random Music Player?

Something Bad - Wicked
I take that as a no.
The Runaway Cart - LM
Hmm, not quite as bad as a runaway train...

A Heart Full of Love - LM
Fall in love with a revolutionary student and plan to marry him after knowing him for ten minutes and just barely learning his name... check.

6. What should I do with my life?
Too much in Love to Care - Sunset Boulevard
Either I have a lot of catching up to do or my Media Player is up to something in its spare time.

Either the shuffle button is telling me my life hasn't begun yet, or I should join a chain gang.

And according to [livejournal.com profile] octaveleap's quizzy thing she posted today I am Lawful-Good but I'm sick of copy/pasting code so I'll leave it at that.

Listening to NPR makes one liberal? huh.

According to some authorities, NPR is 'liberal brainwashing.' It does slant left, I admit, but it also encourages independent analysis, so I don't see how it's brainwashing.

Firebomb?

Please! I don't want anyone to firebomb NPR. Nobody does long-form radio better than NPR. However, who is NPRs audience? Typically, well-off people. Why should the average taxpayer help support NPR so it can answer the "needs" of well-off listeners? NPR should remain on the air if it can support itself, from direct fund raising or corporate sponsorships. Same thing for PBS. In the age when 2/3 of the poor of America have cable TV, taxpayer-supported TV is unnecessary and wasteful. After all, do we have taxpayer-supported newspapers? BTW, NPR does not "slant" left, it leans heavily left.

NPR's audience, I'd suggest, is educated people. Generally people with a better education are better-off, but there is nothing that prevents a street sweeper from listening to NPR. What prevents people from listening to NPR is, rather, the attitude of 'I don't wanna listen to no pansy-ass college boy talk for fifteen minutes about women's rights in Freakistan – what's up with Aruba Girl?'

Perhaps in a political sense...but I'm rather conservative and I love NPR.

I would . . . but

Lots of what NPR does is tremendous. But I'd like some balance. . . evenhandedness. Where are the "other side" contributions to counteract Terry Gross, Dianne Rehm, and "This American Life" to name just a few? Wait Wait is good, Car Talk is awesome, but why does the taxpayer have to help support them?

If NPR accepts taxpayer funding they should reflect the people who help pay the bills. That requires balance. If they want to operate as an independent operation, they can run any programming they choose. At least Air America is operating without taxpayer funding. Should we ask less of NPR?

The big long Symphonic recording, original London cast. It so rocks. OK, the Fantine in the other one is a bit better, technically, but ... I have totally converted to London Cast loving. Ten years of Broadway Cast and I turn my back so easily...
