There it was, a faint flicker as Vimes glanced momentarily at some paperwork in front of him. Lotto! thought William.*

plimsoll - (n.) A rubber-soled cloth shoe; a sneaker.
I looked up this word last week to see if it actually existed and ever since then – especially today – I've been hearing it all over.

If we are assuming that lotto in fact is the same as the 'lottery', then why the heck haven't we heard more about it?, because it is the most Dibbleresque notion I've ever heard. (Okay, getting people to give you money for the chance that they might win money with numbers that you control!? DIBBLER!)

:D That same happened to me with 'cocking a snook' and 'ineffable'. Once I looked those words up, they appeared everywhere.

I was going to say maybe Dibbler and Moist could go in on it but a)they probably wouldn't be able to work with each other abd b)it seems a bit too simple for the cunning Postmaster.

Hehe, reason c)Dibbler & Moist: not a reputable-sounding partnership. Sounds like the saliva control of a two-year-old.

By the way, I'd always assumed it was 'snook' sounding like 'hook' but apparently it rhymes with 'nuke.' For a long time I was puzzled as to where I picked up the first pronunciation (besides the obvious spelling, of course) until going back to visit my old neighbourhood in San Diego this summer and seeing ... Snook Road. Teeheehee. Snook.

Snook, snook, snook.

Psh, I've always known that! Just flows off the tongue, it does! (Actually I've no idea how to pronounce most things. WOE.)

xDD Is it really? Mine was . . . uh, Pinehurst. Which is really quite inconsequential.

Um, 'cock cock cock' really doesn't give a favorable impression, does it. :(
