A Bit of the 'Wall' Phenomenon
Sep. 18th, 2005 02:03 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

Yeah. I'm really suffering for lack of artistic challenge ... I'm not getting any at work and I don't have enough inspiration or influences at home. I have not only hit a wall but am gradually slipping down it and before long it'll be like I've never been to animation school at all.... I just have to make myself slog through it because I know that's the only way to beat it. It's so discouraging.
Anyway, the purpose of the cut: Here's my first halfway-decent Otto Chriek ... still not right but at least he's starting to look a bit more like himself.

Perhaps I'll cheer up if I work on the world's only The Truth/FLCL/Red Dwarf crossover gag sketch. If it doesn't frustrate me too much.
Ooh hey, nothing like procrastination and sticking one's head in the sand to avoid unpleasant feelings! Here's a test recently found on

Forgive me, but ... Los Angeles, the Middle East, and Mexico are reserved, calm, and intellectual? Am I missing something?

Date: 2005-09-18 10:10 pm (UTC)Try taking a break with some fellow animators. Wander through a museum snickering at Art, or maybe do something that has absolutely no connection to your craft. It sometimes works wonders.

I really love your art, and I hope you get out of this hard spot, beacause I may be 'seldom bothered by the suffering of strangers', but I 'believe in the importance of art'. :P *innocent face* How about a Goblet Project?

Date: 2005-09-19 06:34 pm (UTC)The costume likely comes from the fact that everything I read and/or draw lately seems to be costumed between 1750 and 1870, but is most likely attributable to the fact that immediately before drawing this, I had just been making notes on Georgian costume for my sister.
My perception of the Apocalypse has been forever skewed by Messrs Gaiman and Pratchett... frankly, any Death who doesn't speak in just isn't worth the effort.
hmmm

Date: 2005-09-19 06:18 pm (UTC)I hope you find inspiration, there's nothing more frustrating than lack of challenge. I like Otto's face (specially the fangs) and the explorer's waistcoat ( or vest, wathever)And the your's muse swing leg motion, though that must hurt :P
