Penguin Pirate

Yes, believe it or not, I actually drew in my sketchbook last night. I'm trying to finish it off by the end of the year so I held myself at metaphorical knifepoint yesterday until I'd filled four pages ... mostly rubbish, of course, but there were a couple worthwhile doodles. The one above happened when I asked my sister what to draw, and she said 'a penguin pirate.' It was only at her insistance that I added the pantaloons, which I now think are the best part.

scalbie

A scalbie ... probably too cute. I like corvids, dangit.

Brutha Desssert

Brutha in the desert ... there's a smiling sun with sunglasses included in that drawing but I cut it out. Might add it back in. I can't help feeling I've drawn someone else in this exact attitude before...

Lucius's Pretty Hair

Inspired by some responses to my post yesterday. Sorry for butchering your Lucius, Makani ... the only reference I had at the time was that post-drunken-party picture which I found felicitously wedged in my sketchbook last night.

You just can't make this stuff up ... well, okay, maybe you can.
RUSSIAN SQUIRRELS ATTACK DOG
There's got to be a gag in there involving Rocky vs the Dirty Commie Rodents...

Heh, I've been following Makani's Lucious hair drawings. Very funny! Lucious' head looks a bit big to me, but I guess it is supposed to be metaphorically, so why not literally make it big?

I don't know the other character. The bird is cool, though.

His head is big because everything in that drawing besides the heads is rubbish. RUBBISH. I managed to crop out most of the badness because it wasn't essential, but I'm not going to pretend I meant to do a literal illustration of a metaphor.

hey

*SQQUUUEEEEE!!!* I LOVE Penguins! That's just too adorable! As is the Scalbie. Corvids are amazing -- I've always wanted an albino crow for a pet! ^_^

HA! Lucius' hair is brilliant! But I wanna know where in Canon does it state that Voldemort is hairless. He had great hair when he was young, so who's to say he doesn't have any now? I used to draw him with a double-pointed goatee remenisent of a forked tongue, until I saw the movie. :/

Heck, I'd take any crow for a pet ... but it'd totally wreck the house. I hear they pick apart everything. All those brains, looking for something to do...

Oh definitely: all corvids are awesome! I especially love those ravens with a white nape and Jackdaws (they're all bright-eyed). I'd like an albino crow because they have a hard harder time in the wild than black crows. European hooded crows are also cool!

A pet crow is like an amazon or african grey parrot only hyper. It's like adopting a child: they need your constant attention.

In my neighborhood, there's a flock of feral Hill Mynahs. Those are hillarious -- they make the cutest little noises and they fear nothing.

Sorry I didn't comment on the other drawings before...I'm in Computer class and I had to start taking notes...

Brutha...the expression reminds me a bit of the character from the original Terra Extra Potter pages. The one that looked like a hobbit and had a cold or something like that?

Did you cut out a lot of the Voldemort drawing? Or just he lower bodies? Could you possibly email it to me so I can see it? Or perhaps load it onto your photobucket and link the image to me?

Just the lower bodies. They aren't important to the gag and they look like a 12-year-old drew them so I didn't bother scanning that far. Why on earth would you want to inflict that sight on yourself? Not only is it ugly, it's entirely pointless!

I imagine it's somewhere in Goblet - I've always pictured him hairless as has nearly everyone else, so it's go to be somewhere. I think there's some sort of description that gives the impression that his head is basically a skull with skin stretched tight over it, with a snakey nose and red eyes; since no hair was described and skulls generally don't have hair in the first place, I took that to mean he was Mr Cue Ball.

I like corvids too. They had a raven at the Innsbruck Zoo that was making a noise like a pig.

Ah, penguin pirate... And Lucius' hair is prettier than quite a lot of people's, though I still giggled insanely.

Well, there are so many times that I want to rip up my sketchbook and throw it in chunks out the window...

So, seeing that you have troubles with things sometimes would bring a very big smile to my face and remind me that even the best artists have oodles of troubles. Even Disney people have trouble, but you never see they're mistakes...so it seems like they are perfect.

If you didn't scan it don't worry about it...I figured you cropped it in Adobe Photoshop or something...

As you wish

Man, that Penguin Pirate cracks me up. And I just read Small Gods a week ago, so the image is nice and fresh in my mind.He looks really weary...It's a great picture.
And the HP one is awesome. Made me giggle. Something about his smirk is bugging me though...It's like, curving up really sharply or something...Whatever. I'd love to see a hair-prettiness battle against Lucius and Legolas.

From: [identity profile] twirlynoodle.livejournal.com
The smirk is kind of ... well, a cartoony way of making a little smile you're trying to hide. Chuck Jones used to do it all the time. I'm trying to reach for a little crumb of Jonesy goodness... : )

I think Legolas would win, because
a) his hair is longer
b) he runs around and fights things and stuff whereas Lucius just kind of stands there being evil, so Legolas's prettiness is harder to achieve.

Though Lucius might get more points for being more interesting...

Haa, I love the Voldy drawing. I thought they did a good job with his face (I went crazy when I saw his nostrils were actual slits) but I thought he was a bit too... crazy happy? The prancing around the graveyeard turned me off a bit. I wanted him to be FREAKY! He was too giddy for my taste, but what are you gonna do. Aaaanyway, just wanted to say I thought you did good with him here. And JASON ISAACS! Love him. I wish I could smirk like that.

Nice drawings. =]
