So I finally saw King Kong today. Let me just say I had such a good time that my throat is sore, my sides ache, and I'm currently experiencing a bit of the 'crash' that follows endorphine rushes. Unfortunately for Peter Jackson, this was mostly at his expense ... but it was a darn good time. I've made a bunch of notes and will be attempting a review when I have free time again (which may be two weeks from now).

In the meantime, I would like it made generally known that MY SISTER IS A GENIUS. GENIUS.

And now I must go draw some gag sketches.

I saw King Kong some time ago, and I liked it more than I thought I would ( Partly because the 30's New York scenes were awesome!)
Waiting here for your gag sketches, they're always welcome :)

King Kong was totally awesome. Although, I cried for almost twenty minutes after the stupid thing was over. Curse you, Peter Jackson!

I saw King Kong a while ago, with one of my friends (who is a Peter Jackson nut). I thought it took a bit too long getting to the island, but that it was great once they got there. I think I'd enjoy Jackson films a lot more if they weren't so long.

I still think Andy Serkis must have had so much fun being a gorilla.

I thought Jack Black was terrible, and there were too many "over the top" moments in the film for me to really enjoy it. One that comes immediately to mind is the guy shooting the bugs off the other guy with the machinne gun.

Andy Serkis was terrific, and the blending of the 3D with live action was too. The shots of NYC were great.

Can't wait for the sketches.

Genius runs in the family (but sometimes skips a generation).

Oh come on! Those were the moments that made it such a blast! (Sometimes literally!) Party pooper. :)

I really think . . .

Twas overreaching that killed the beast.

I mean really, T-Rex chomps down on his shoulder and KK shrugs if off. Some little 30-cal bullets hit him and down he goes. And how did they get him on that tramp steamer, anyway?

I found that it was those moments that i would stop looking at the movie as a serious film and instead revert back to a gawping mouthed ten year old, my vocabulay shortened to 'oh my god' and 'cool'. This seemed to worry my friend i saw it with.
When they had the fight with the three T-rexes i nearly wet myself i was so excited.
The one problem with the film was facing the thought of another space with no Peter Jackson films for a long time.

I saw it with an Icelandic friend last December when I was in Reykjavik.

It was a good movie. I loved the 1930s New York views and the comedy (something I did not expect). Best of all is that there was a bond between Ann and Kong. The violence on violence on violence on Skull Island is what got me finally laughing. It got to be soooo much that I expected one of the ship's crew to yell "Enough with the deadly stuff, already!"

I look forward to seeing those cartoons.

Seems I'm one of the few who didn't see the movie, not because I didn't want to, just because I didn't have time. I really have to rent it, I really do, along with practically all movies that came out between november and today (except GoF and Narnia, of course).
I'll be waiting for that review so we can all see why your sister is a genius.
And the sketches will be nice too!

Just heard today that it's coming out in a month, so you won't have to wait long ... and I can make amusing screencaps, hahaha. |: ) I know what you mean about lack of time – I still haven't seen Madagascar or Chicken Little or ... well, practically anything animated in the last year.

I still haven't seen King Kong. I really wanted to, though...

I loved Goblet, though. And thoroughly enjoyed Narnia. I just didn't have time to see King Kong. I wish I had.

As for Madagascar...it was a funny movie...but the animation on the people was pretty bad. What is it with Dreamwork's CGI movies? Almost all of them have people that move like robots...even from the Over the Hedge preview I can tell that they are going to be weird people. Yet, the main characters always look fine...

*shrugs*

Because they get the good animators to do the main characters and the less experienced ones with less time and freedom to do the background characters? And, in their CG movies to date, the background characters have been human whereas the main ones are usually not. Put the effort into the things that are the centre of attention, don't waste valuable time and employees on pieces of moving set, which is all background people are.

True.

But, in Pixar and Blue Sky movies even the background people are great. But then, everything about Pixar is great haha

peter jackson: distinctly remember squeezing my brother's hand and wanting silly, babyish humor from 3-year-old Kong and his tantrums, then finding it in the really freaky scenes.
