Such a Waste
Mar. 7th, 2006 08:50 amPrompted by an email I recieved which asked me how I pictured Lupin in the fifth and sixth books, I have illustrated every scene in which he appears with TWO easy sketches!

Lupin Scene Type A: Exposing Relevant Background Information (okay, okay, I cheated and made the speech bubble in Photoshop, which technically I'm not supposed to do with this sketchbook thing, but I wanted it to look really artificial.)
Lupin Scene Type B: Comforting Distressed Person(s)
These drawings are ICKY. Bad. And I'd even gone to life drawing and everything.

Date: 2006-03-07 05:52 pm (UTC)You've just been handed the (bl)Oscar* for (1) best insane statement made on a personal blog, and (2) best deluded statement on a personal blog.
Oh, and you've also been certified "incredibly talented" by some obscure, anonymous selection committee as well.
* the (bl)Oscar looks and weighs as much as the real Oscar, except he's blue. Also spelt "blOgscar".

Date: 2006-03-07 06:38 pm (UTC)I know you're not satisfied with the drawings, but I really like the way you draw Lupin -- it's very true to his character.
Would you mind if I recc'd this post? I wouldn't bother asking, but I have a readership somewhere in the vicinity of 1800 LJers, so I like to ask before they all come here and kill your bandwidth. :D

Date: 2006-03-07 06:40 pm (UTC)Yeah, OK, sure, let's see what happens. But they're such bad drawings! I'd direct you to some of the ones on my site, but that definitely would have bandwidth issues...

Date: 2006-03-07 07:07 pm (UTC)I love these, so funny. The first on especially, partially because it's more self explanatory than the other.
Your character design is also wonderful.
And as for imperfections, they're sketches! Since were were sketches suppossed to be perfect (only in the minds of the artists who make them I think).

Date: 2006-03-07 07:29 pm (UTC)And the drawing is really cool, indeed if that's how you draw him after 2 years then if you hadn't stopped drawing him he would be close to perfection!

Date: 2006-03-07 08:57 pm (UTC)Nobody seems to like to draw Lupin anymore, so I drew him. Of course, in his young years (the only time people seem to draw him).
Awesome, love, both of them. You are just as good as Makani!

Date: 2006-03-07 09:06 pm (UTC)That's because all he does is (a)expose relevant backgound information or (b)comfort people! Booo-ring!
As good as Makani, HAH! I think not. For she is the most rockin' artist of cool. And is steadily improving.

Date: 2006-03-08 01:37 am (UTC)Yeah, Lupin was Mr Exposition, wasn't he? ;)
I like the raised hand and the way the robes hang off him, but find myself agreeing with
Personally I love seeing your sketches. I draw a lot, so when you point out an awkward bit, it's educational. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Date: 2006-03-08 06:36 am (UTC)And I quite agree with you about Lupin's function in these last two books ( I haven't read the 6th yet, but I've been told about everything that happens in it :P ) I miss "PoA"-Lupin.

Date: 2006-03-08 02:35 pm (UTC)man i want to draw something right now
no subject
Date: 2006-03-08 03:22 pm (UTC)you can't, because you know he has done alot more....he has been fighting bad guys,he has been spening time with our dear Greyback,he has been keeping an eye on harry,he has been escaping Tonks,(ummm...what more to say?!!)Aaaand, well,ok,comforting people has been a part of his role but we really did get very TINY points of backstory from him in book 5...and DO NOT call him "Booo-ring"!that really annoys teribble fan girls like me.And Tealin be fair, he is not that boring...Ok,now that vital fan girling matters are said...about these two drawings, they ARE NOT a real fall_back,you know...because you have not drawn him for a long time and taking that point in mind we can't say it's a fall back, and it is obvious that if you draw more Lupin you will certainly improve*;)*
And I think it is repeated at least a million times but I have to say it too, that the hands are Wonderful and the drapery is superb...!

Date: 2006-03-08 04:15 pm (UTC)You only need one more drawing to cover Lupin in the sixth book as well - mopey "too old, too poor, too dangerous" Lupin. ;~)
