TASTY TRAILER TREAT RECIPE!
Try it at home and share with your friends!

Ingredients:

1 766-page (870-page in non-Metric countries) YA novel
2 c mild acid
4 tbsp cinematography in the style of 'philosophical action movie.'
2 2/3 c muscles
2 shirts, tight and slightly thin
5cc adrenaline
1 very large render farm

Extract pages from book. Set in a medium-sized pot, add acid, and bring to a boil. Simmer on 'low' for six months. Strain resulting sludge through a sieve, pressing as much soppy liquid out as possible. Place remaining fibre in a mixing bowl. Add cinematography and stir well, until evenly distributed. Mix muscles and shirts in a separate bowl, then fold into the first mixture. Turn this out onto a floured surface and knead into an attractive lump. Inject 5cc adrenaline using a baker's hypodermic needle until desired sense of urgency is achieved (increase dosage if necessary). Place in preheated 360° render farm until filters and CG have a glossy sheen. Serve hot to 60 million.

I should probably say I think the movie implied by this trailer looks like it's distilled everything interesting about the book into a visually appealing bite-sized package (even though Voldie's wearing a suit) and I will probably see it.

There's people with muscles in Harry Potter?

Look at Harry! He's got ... like ... pecs! And a neck that could pull a small car, if for some reason he wanted to do that. He's not He-Man but he's pretty buff for a 'scrawny' teenager and the costumer doesn't try to mask it.

Ah, see I think I just block out DanRad whenever he's on screen now xD.

Hehe, I wish I had that ability ... it'd probably greatly increase my enjoyment of the movies. ;) 'S kinda hard, what with him being the main character and all... and then if you're not looking at him, chances are you'll have to look at Mr Grint.

serving suggestions: for a little bit more drama; add 5 grams of tightly strung orchestra and a few squealy British accents.

Seriously, this one's going to rock, people. I'm dying to see the movie, we're doing compositing over here and it looks awesome, even without sound and greenscreen and uncut and stuff. There's so many cool filmmaking ideas. I weep for the waste of films 1 and 2, but bless Warners for using the rest of them to put some indie talent in a big-budget sandbox.

Oh yes, I'm looking forward to it because it looks like it's going to be a good movie, and because it might even be a movie I like better than the book, though that wouldn't be hard in this case. That makes it sound like I'm not giving the filmmakers enough credit ... I mean that what I see in the trailer looks actually exciting and well-shot; I hope the acting continues its upward trend as well but it's kind of hard to tell from the quick cuts.

In retrospect I'm not terribly upset that the first films were so bad, as that has allowed me to completely disregard them and has left the books unscathed in my mind. As the series progresses, I like the books less and the movies more, so it's a perfect dance of cosmic harmony, haha.

I wish I'd seen as much of it as you ... I suppose we'll all be in for a large dose of awesome in July rather than a gradual drip-feed.

Actually, I wish I didn't get the drip-feed... it does suck a lot out of the film when you're like 'Oh, good, they fixed that jitter on the matte behind Voldemort', or 'I'm glad they went with Fog Pattern version 32a there'.

I was successfully refusing to look at the HP plates for months! But I cracked the instant the young!Snape stuff came up.. :P

Oh yeah, that flashback scene is in this one, isn't it? Hmm... I should probably draw some stuff from that before the movie comes out... You should too! :D The world needs more of your Snape scenes, you have a pleasantly original take on him.

Snape's Worst Memory is one of my favorite chapter in the whole series.
I think we would all love to have some drawings of you about it.

Aaaah, young Marauders...

May I say that enjoyed every second of that delicious 'meal'?!

Seriously, one of the best trailers ever. And the next one will be shown next to Spidy 3!

I don't know, seeing as this one is the international one. But I just hope the one we'll see May 4th will be different, or at least have new footage.

Looks Amazing

I'm very pleasantly surprised by the mood of the trailer; it has that right edge of creepiness about it. I'm glad this director is taking more of a psychological and emotional path with the story, because emotion is ultimately what guides whether or not we enjoy a film. The production design has the right mix of past and modern architecture to it, and the lighting is indeed perfect for the feeling of this part of the tale. Looks like we're getting some Peter Jackson-esque aerial shots, which I'm more than happy about! I'm pretty sure that Harry sees Voldemort at King's Cross to show that he's constantly got the Dark Lord on his mind (just not "The Dark Lord Wears Prada").

This director is really shaping up, and if the film is as wonderful as it looks, I hope he stays on for the Half-Blood Prince film. I find Voldemort's past very fascinating, and they need to find a way to keep that the main focus of the next film (as there really is no central plot) while still keeping Harry an active character during all that exposition. They also really need to start making Dumbledore a better character in order for us to care about him in the next film; so far, they've screwed themselves up in that area. And if they cut Fawkes's Lament out of the film (I want to see a whole scene of just Fawkes flying, the scenery, and the music) I will be disappointed.

I am very excited to see this movie... but I was a bit wary for a while because I heard Disney bought the rights to it. And while they have to okay everything with J.K., it kind of freaked me out. Was that real, or rumor? Anyone know?

I believe WB bought the rights to the whole series in one go ... Disney would have to sell practically everything they own to buy it off them now. I have also heard they have to OK everything with JKR, but judging by the evidence of my own eyes at what's gotten through so far, I don't know how much that counts for.
